These OFF missions were done a few years ago by Bletchley and are divided according to major events of the war. Each set will have its missions tailored to that time period... i.e. there is a purpose and reason why some mission were more predominant than others. Please read this thread for more detail as to why these types of missions were flown.

01 January to December 1915
- All of the mission types during this period will be Solo or 'Lone Wolf' (or at most a pair of aircraft). Use Mission Editor to fly missions marked as solo or lone wolf.

02 January to June 1916
- Many missions are still being flown by individual aircraft (or at most a pair of aircraft).
- Aggressive British patrols over the battlefield and sometimes into enemy territory.

03 July to August 1916
- A two-month hiatus for the 'German' player, with mostly 'lone wolf' and solo defensive patrols over friendly territory (still one or two line patrols, but not as many).
- Same aggressive British patrols as before.

04 September to December 1916
- Aggressive German patrols from September onwards over the battlefield.
- The German air service send their solo photorecon. missions far into Allied airspace
- British are still patrolling aggressively with deep offensive patrols and long recon.
- Frequent bombing missions to strategic German railway junctions, airfields, and lines of communication.
- Both sides are photographing and doing detailed mapping of opposing trench systems.

05 January to April 1917
- British scouts are drafted to do recon. and photo recon. to map the new German trench systems
- British two-seater units cover the advancing troops with low level contact missions.
- Allied bombing switches to night bombing, of rail and communication centres, with little in the way of day bombing (switch to night mission in Mission Editor)
- Allied flights in Bloody April:
1. Counter-battery, photo and tactical recon work, now have the highest priority
2. Some scouts attack the balloon line.
3. Heavily escorted day bombing now resumes, mostly against rail centres.

06 May to December 1917
- British Corps machines go about their daily photo.recon. and art.obs. missions in quiet areas with far less opposition.
- Both the British scouts and the German two-seaters start ground attack.
- The first 'wireless intercept' missions start on both sides
- The British extend the strafing and bombing missions into the German rear areas.

07 January to April 1918
- Mission Editor: Kogenluft introduced restrictions on flying in January 1918 - limiting combat flights to a maximum of 90 minutes (Fuel=31%) for the Jagdstaffeln, and recon flights to 1 hour (Fuel=21%).
- Germans are only bombing the British rear areas by night and sending out high altitude recon., photorecon. and art.obs. machines by day. (switch to night missions in Mission Editor)
- British respond with intensive recon. and bombing of the German airfields and rail network by day and by night.
- German Spring Offensive:
1. Schlachtstaffeln fly ground attack and contact patrols supported by the Jastas flying above them.
2. British fighters fly line patrols and ground attack missions.
3. British bombers attack rail junctions and bridges, mostly but not always, by night.

08 May to July 1918
- Germans continue ground attack and contact patrols.
- Allied recon. and photo.recon work is intensified and the bombing of German rail centres begin again.

09 August to November 1918
- British two-seaters heavily escorted concentrate on contact patrol, counter-battery work and bombing behind the lines.
- British fighters are used for ground attack and close offensive patrols.
- Intense air fighting up to the end of October.
- Mission Editor: German Bombers get 15% Fuel (45 minutes) and fighters get 21% fuel (60 minutes) from July to September 1918.
- Missions Editor: Only German Elite units receive 21% fuel in November.

Use this video to see how JJJ's mission editor can be used for this MOD as well as additional neat features of the editor.

Two questions:

1. Is JJJ Mission Mod required for this mod or is it truly "stand alone".

2. If it is "stand alone", is it JSGME "plug and chug" or do you have to "enable" Third Party Mission in the WorkShop ???

1) Mission Editor is needed only to enable Lone Wolf (solo) missions, paired aircraft missions, night time missions and setting limited fuel for German airplanes.
2) OldHat's Mission mod is JGME ready, just do not forget to enable 3rd party missions in WOFF UE Workshop.

I just flew 3 missions with it. I didn't use the ME.
I have never seen the ground inf positions crowded like that before. If it says fly solo then just reduce the fuel for your wingmen to 5 and they will drop out of mission.

Thank you, but all of these things mentioned in item (1) can already be done through the game now when setting up your campaign mission by either manually setting up your flight time and / or fuel load before you take off (lederhosen beat me to it).

Yep, but how you can disable A flight then? wink And, you can plan more logical flight route and altitude.

Thanks OldHat for this mod. And using Triple J,s editor is so easy..and like he says "How do you disable A flight"
Anyway thanks again for your mods and the brilliantly written article above OldHat. Il be trying it out later..one quick question do I have to disable Bletchleys mod in JSGME to use this one? Thanks guys

Thanks guys.

As stated before, these missions can be flown without using the mission editor. However, using the editor should allow for more immersive moments.

Along with what JJJ said about the advantages of using the editor for these missions:

1. A few missions will require you drop ALL ammo due to weight e.g. spy drop-one of the most intense missions. Without mission editor, it's not possible.

2. If you use my fuel recommendations, you'll need to reduce both friendly and enemy flights to 42% - 2 hours of fight time. Not possible without ME. (BTW-100% fuel gives all 1915 - 1918 aircraft over 4 hours of flight on a single tank. So, consider if you've already flown for an hour and you get shot in the tank. Fuel leak is a constant rate, so you'll have considerably less time with less fuel.).

3. Change wind speed and direction.

This MOD is activated via JSGME and is not compatible with other mission mods including Bletchley or Yaan. So, you'll need to only choose one.

Also, forgot to mention that flight time can only be adjusted for about 3 hours without ME. You can't convert a day flight into a night mission and visa versa.

Version 2 is ready for download from the same "here" link present in the original post. It contains minor text fixes to the French Missions, otherwise it is the same as the previous version.

Robert, please do your magic on this one as before. Thanks. thumbsup

If you're referring to the "historical mission types" setting I believe that it needs to be set to off for this mod.

Yes, historical mission types needs to be off. Also, only one active mission MOD at a time depending on the month and year of your current pilot.

New version with fixed French Missions thanx to hoongadoonga for bringing to my attention. The zipped version is available for download in the original post.

Robert, kindly add the wording below to the readme and provide the executable version as well.

Also, I would like to remind folks to be sure and use the correct month/year according to the pilot you will be playing through JSGME. Otherwise, you will get errors.

Layman's wording on what this MOD will do:
This mod provides Bletchley's historically accurate mission types for each period of the war. Mission Type refers to the task, such as patrol enemy lines, attack a railroad depot, solo patrol, or protect an aerodrome. This mod will assign the mission type and waypoints only. All other factors, such as number of planes in your flight, altitudes, top cover by flight A, number of enemy planes, etc. is still controlled by WOFF. In some cases this may cause a mismatch between the mission type and the makeup of your flight. For example, the mod may indicate a solo patrol but WOFF will assign three planes to your flight. This can be corrected by using JJJ65's Mission Editor to eliminate the other two pilots so you are truly flying solo. (thanks to hoongadoonga for this clarification)
