Hey all,

I just bought a new Asus ROG Strix Z270H Gaming Motherboard and I installed Win 10 64bit with a eVGA 980 GTX.. Now my problem is when I uninstall the NVidia drivers when it is done the screen goes black and I am unable to see anything on desktop..

The PC is not lockled up or froze it just does not have video, I can fix this by going into BIOS and set too Optimised defaults, then when I boot up I am able to see the Desktop and reinstall NVidia drivers..

Now I am trying to figure out why this happens and is there anything I can do besides goto BIOS and reset it too Optimised Defaults as this wipes out my other settings I set like the Overclock and all..

I am not sure what to do to fix this and is a Pain when I forget to rest the BIOS before I uninstall the Drivers.. My Old PC did not do this when I uninstalled the NVidia drivers and was wondering what is causing the screen to go blank and I need to reset BIOS for the screen to work..

I already updated BIOS to the latest and I am thinking do I need to install Intels driver or something here with the Z270 Chipset??

TBH I stopped uninstalling video drivers a couple of years ago. I only do it now if there's a problem. Otherwise, I install over the top. nvidia's drivers don't require uninstallation first, and if you've made any settings customization they will retain them vs an uninstall which will wipe them and then you need to put them all back in again.

Can you hook your monitor to the motherboard and run off the on-board video so you can at least see something?

Well I can see but I have to go into BIOS and set it to optimized settings for it too work.. so I have to go into BIOS and reset it too Optimised then I can go into Windows and uninstall the drivers..

I was either wondering why this happens as I never had that happen on any of my Past PC's.. I don't need to switch the cable just a BIOS SHuffle but it is just a pain to have to go into BIOS and reset it as I loose all my other OC settings and such and need to reset it after the driver install..

I did learn a trick this BIOS I can save Profiles uptoo 8.. so I saved 1 profile for future reference and they also released a new BIOS which I did so next time I uninstall the vid drivers I will see if that fixed it until then I found a decent workaround and with the saved profile will help a lot..

Well it seems Asus fixed this issue witht these boards and the latest BIOS.. Glad it was not me and now the problem is fixed evcen better..
