This thread is more a loud voice thinking than anything else, just trying to be positive and searching a excuse to get the Hornet once released, I cannot see why a USN carrier will get permission to enter the Black Sea and launch missions over Russi or Georgia, but Korea is another thing. I will keep this first post updated as I found new mods.

[Linked Image]

Just saw the anouncement of the RAZBAM MiG-19 and tought, North Korea is still using this bird, together with the Frogfoot, the MiG-29A and the MiG-21 (PFM variant I think), the Caucasus layour is similar to Korea, peninsula west coast with a bit of imagination, so maybe we can use it as a Korea map.

Then I started to think what I will need.

First of all VITEZ colored roof mod. Available on Lockonfiles, thanks Tom!

http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/file/3275-colored-roofs/

Then skins, for the Fishbed, the Su25 and the 29A (I'm searching for them).

And see If I can found skins for this babies.

ROKAF BAE Hawk

[Linked Image]

ROKAF F-5E Tiger II

[Linked Image]

And maybe skins for the non flyable Eagles-K and ROKAF Vipers...

A terrain repain with paddy fields will make my mouth water...

For North Korea, for starters, Mi-8...

And even Il-76...

The VSN flyable F-15E mod has a Slam Eagle skin.

As for the map itself, I've roughly matched Korean airfields to the Caucasus map.

Not everybody likes scripted missions and campaigns either. Get a dynamic campaign, ED.

Plus it doesn't seem to me like there is ever going to be an official F-16 module.

IKR? If only there was a way to make them flyable or port their models to EECH. The ones in the Ostsee theater are damned well done. All DCS needs really is a dynamic campaign system. Scripted campaigns are so...last century. Branching campaigns are also so very last century. So last century Wing Commander was doing them in the early 90s. A dynamic campaign system would add so much replayability to the singleplayer side of things. Not everyone has a reliable enough connection to play multiplayer all the time.

There also should be map mods like there are with ArmA. Or at least more DLC maps. NTTR is a start. Next is Normandy, but can we also have the Fulda Gap or Poland since everyone is leaning toward Cold War aircraft? Throw in some Russian WWII planes and Poland would be a very relevant map.

This is not a DCS Vs BMS threat, is a turn DCS into Korean peninsula mod.

DC's are also very last century. I was playing them in Red Baron in 1989 and Falcon 3 in 1991. So...bad example.

I'd be happy with a Red Baron/Rise of Flight style "career" mode. And if ED allowed maps to be developed as mods, we'd already have a Korea map...and probably a Chechnya map for the Kamovs and Hips.

I'll grab my list at home and post what I've come up with. I just took the map BMP and lined out existing names and added the Korean matches.

Beyond that, I've not found a way to properly edit a lua to change airfield names.

But I just watched Game of Thrones season six on DVD...

Jets and choppers vs. dragons? Speaking of fantasy maps, Georgia kinda resembles Gondor. Forget the Giant Eagles, we'll come with F-15Cs. Mozdok could be Rohan.

I found once a threat that pointed the player to change the names of airfields and towns, I think I will remember If I try, once at home will be able to check and post results here.
