Hi. I used to play good old IL2 sturmovik for almost 10 years. But for the last few years, havent playd much sims, a bit Rise of flight and war thunder, thats it.
I bought this sim when it was new, but my PC at the time was not up for it. But a new pc and one Oculus rift later, I'm ready to jumb back in.

First. VR suport for Oculus rift is coming in march, is this right?

And how is hist IL2 title compered to the Old game. In terms of Flight model, singel player missions and multiplayer. Im mostly a singel player gamer, so its importent that the singel player is good.
Is it as easy for the comunety to make good missions and campagnes as the orginal IL2 (1946)? Dynamic, so on. And how is the multiplayer comunety, many players and servers, or mostly emty.

I also see the lack of content when it comes to planes, is that a problem? How is the suport, regular updates and new planes to buy? And read somwhere that you can drive tanks?
How is that compered to games like world of tanks or war thunder? eny good, and is it suported in multiplayer, and are there also singel player content for the tank part?

A modern IL2 with VR suport is a dream, is this game the dream come true, or not?

I'll try and answer as many question as I am able to. Not sure about Oculus Rift, I think that they are going to support it. I'm not much of a flight model guru but they seem pretty okay to me. IMO from a single-player perspective it is like all 1C games, a bit lacking. You do get a non-dynamic campaign with BoS and another with BoM. There's single missions and also "quick missions" which are okay for practice. There are a few good single player offline scripted campaigns around and there's a nice simple 3rd party quick mission builder available. The full mission builder that comes with the game is, to me, not that easy to get one's head around and is quite complex.

You can also man tanks,they recent brought in a handful of quick missions for tanks and you can of course write your own missions and a few online server have man tank options. Strictly personally I don't think that it's as immersive as the old IL2 but it's very pretty and runs very well on my new PC. I'd love it to have better offline/single player content and immersion but I could say this about all 1C games, BoS/BoM/CloD and IL-2/IL-2FB they simply aren't really geared up for the offline player, IMO offline is a bit of a second-thought concession and they're all about multiplayer online. As for support they have been releasing update quite often and they're working on the battle of Kuban another in the series. There are a few "collectors" planes which you can buy, I have the Ju-52 which is fun. If you decide to buy their more expensive option of BoS or BoM then you get a couple of extra planes included. Don't expect anywhere near as many aircraft as you had with IL-FB/Pacific fighters.

VR support is WiP as the game now use DirectX11/64 bits engine, don't know about ETA.



SP contend was hampered initially with their try to make a "FarCry" like gameplay (XP points, unlocks, fast action, short missions), but is slowly is improving with community help - make missions for BoS is certainly 10 times more difficult/laborious than for IL-2:46.



BoS came with 8 planes + 2 optionals, BoM is the same and Ju-52 was released per community request. BoK planes are being released - for ones that did pre-order - one at every ~3 mounts, not bad.

Certainly this planes are much more detailed than WT/WoT/IL-2:46 models, so see as "Quality x Quantity".

MP has 2/3 "hardcore" servers always populated and some "fun4all" with quorum - is not like 500+ in lL-2:46 "hay days" in HL - but that times are over. Big numbers today is in several WT 32 planes servers, like BF games.



You can drive T-34 and Panzer III Ausf in some MP servers and in some SP missions.
They are not detailed a level of "tank simulator", with simplify driver/turret control but have driver "cockpit" and correctly modeled gunsites for no externals servers.
I think they are a try - not much successful - for appeal for "funplayers", no more additions in tanks is planed for now.
