In the book there is very specific indication of her lifespan though,

Gathering a giant white bath towel about her, Rachael said, "Did you enjoy that?" "Yes." "Would you ever go to bed with an android again?" "If it was a girl. If she resembled you." Rachael said, "Do you know what the lifespan of a humanoid robot such as myself is? I've been in existence two years. How long do you calculate I have?" After a hesitation he said, "About two more years." "They never could solve that problem. I mean cell replacement. Perpetual or anyhow semi- perpetual renewal. Well, so it goes." Vigorously she began drying herself. Her face had become expressionless. "I'm sorry," Rick said. "Hell," Rachael said, "I'm sorry I mentioned it. Anyhow it keeps humans from running off and living with an android." "And this is true with you Nexus-6 types too?" "It's the metabolism. Not the brain unit." She trotted out, swept up her underpants, and began to dress.

Also, the book describes what is Rachel's ultimate fate after she runs away with Deckard. I am hoping they use this in the sequel.

The Rachel lifespan detail is in the final voiceover at the end of the theatrical version, so I guess it may be part of the crowbarred-in "happy ending". Interesting that the book limits the replicants to 4 years as a technical limitation, while the movie limits the replicants to 4 years as a precaution smile

Both a precaution and a limitation once the organism is created. Tyrell mentions that once the genetic sequence is set it cannot be changed despite their attempts to find solutions.

Just watched it again. Still not able to see anything that makes me believe Deckard is a replicant.

I had forgotten the year was 2019. Where is my flying car dammit. Next movie is Blade Runner 2049. If Deckard is a replicant, he should be dead in 2023, the latest. Unless they keep cranking him out, older model each 4 years.

Well, it's is never explicitly stated, only ever implied, and only really with later edits. Deckard's dream of the unicorn, followed by Gaff's unicorn origami. And, as Rachel is a prototype of a memory-gifted replicant, we might imagine Deckard is of the same project, and so the 4-year lifespan is not applicable.

Maybe.

My feeling is that although Deckard seems to be in the new movie, we still won't get any straight answers one way or the other.

I'm sure Deckard doesn't believe himself to be a replicant at this point. That doesn't affect whether or not he is, of course.

It would be boring to have him be a replicant. Better to have him doubt and then question, find out he isn't and then not care if someone is real or artificially made life.
Kind of like how in the end Roy just cared bout life.

I hope the BR2049 DVD has a commentary track that's just him! Two hours of him thanking every person who appears on screen or whose name appears on screen. Riveting!
