Okay, so I cannot figure out the reticle on the rifle I start with. It doesn't appear to correspond to anything in real life. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in the game. I doubt it.

Can anyone fill me in on how the reticle you start with is configured? I mean, I'd RTFM but there IS NOT A MANUAL!!! GRRRR!!!!

mouse/keyboard or gamepad... for gamepad, left trigger brings in, right bumper exhales/zooms in, left trigger for the shot... if that's what your asking... got videos on my xbox one feed, if you can watch it.

(if not Panzermeyer and Jedimaster are playing it right NOW, ask them.

On PC with mouse/keyboard. Thanks for the info though. You still may be able to help me:

But, what I'm trying to figure out is how to use the reticle to get range and what the markings represent other than "guesswork". I presume it's not first focal plane or anything like that, but for all I know that's not even in the game. I would think if they model actual ballistics like they claim there'd have to be a system by which to actually make a proper shot, use MOA, etc., but without a manual I'm gonna go back to easy "laser bullet" mode unless I can figure it out.

if you look on the right side of the Steam page for Sniper Elite 4 there is a link that says View the manual: http://store.steampowered.com/manual/312660

I've been playing this game both in single player and in cooperative mode and it's been a ton of fun! Yeah, the game plays like a Michael Bay WWII film but for a game that's ok. biggrin

if you go to the range, select a difficultly, start with normal and move up... it will walk you through each difficulty... I've been playing the SP campaign and love it, tried MP and it was a bug/lag disaster... haven't tried co-op yet, because surprisingly not one of my Xbox friends have bought the game.

I almost bought it on Xbox yesterday but I can't shoot for crap with the game pads so I didn't. Sorry brotato. Now, my Madden obsession, well, you know about that. I need like a twelve step program or something. smile

Playing a military shooter with a gamepad is like drinking decaf coffee. Why bother?

Just my 2 cents. smile

Perhaps, but aiming with a thumbstick is just as unrealistic as with a mouse, so it's a moot point anyway.

Any time someone tried to make the argument that video games teaches people how to kill, I would hold up my hands like I was working a mouse and keyboard and asked them which type gun it looked like I was holding.

I have tried to use the Xbox 360 controller for shooters but just cannot get a good aim with it so mouse for me. Love the controller for Project Cars and FSX, just not for precision aiming.

I do have the 2nd and 3rd Sniper Elite and will most likely get the 4th when on sale.

The mouse is by far superior for targeting. The problem is the keyboard is for TYPING and screws it all up. LOL
I prefer pulling a trigger too though, makes me feel just a little bit more immersed in the game.
Used to be I couldn't do kb/m for shooters since I was mainly on console. Now I'm 99% pc, rarely FPS games, so I pretty much can't do crap now with either one in an FPS.

I was playing shooters on a kb before you could even use a mouse with them! neaner

No mouse in Wolf 3D or Doom, just arrow keys on the right and WASD on the left.

Yeah, playing shooters with no mouse and playing racing sims with a joystick were unique experiences.

Joystick? I played Papy's Indy 500 with ONLY a kb! And we didn't have any fancy "seat belts", if we got in a wreck we flew out of the car and smashed ourselves on the pavement and said "oooh...that wasn't very smart was it?"

But it didn't matter, because that's all we had and we LIKED it!

My first pic games consisted of selling lemonade at the right prices, and Hamurabi fending off rats stealing the grain. LOL
Then there were the rpg games...

Drop bag

Peripherals in those games were graph paper and pencil. wink

I did have a joystick when we got an Apple IIc for some Spy Hunter. Good times!

I remember playing some Star Trek text based game circa 1989 and typing in a command like "Put on viewscreen" and my reply from the game was "You look rather ridiculous wearing a viewscreen".
