What does grok mean?

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

Bad! BAD!

You must read:

Buy it now:

Or I suppose you could go to the library, if you can find one...

Library? What's that? Oh, it's those buildings I can upgrade in Shogun 2 to increase my research rate.

It is one of the few books named in We Didn't Start the Fire, between Eichmann and Bob Dylan!

One of Heinlein's worse books IMO. That's when he really went off the hard SF rails and descended into tales revolving around sex (all sorts) incest etc.

A damned shame. Love his earlier stuff.

I have a library.
I've saved every book I, and the wife, have ever read.
I have a den with all four walls lined with shelves, full of books, about half paper backs, but most hard cover.

When the EMP hits, I'll have something to do.
Besides carrying water from the creek to the house...........lol.........

Anyway......yeah, like Jedi and Max, I "Love real books".

Panzer will lose all his 'credits'..... biggrin

King Crimson will live on in our fond memories of the pre-EMP good ol' days!

Perhaps the legend will be passed on via story telling around numerous camp fires and wood burning stoves...

Yeah, I can just picture it, dirty faces around the campfire, all talking about "The Panzer", and his 100,000 posts.

My book collecting was halted by my wife who declared the ever-growing number of bookshelf units was growing untenable! smile

I switched to Kindle for all but the most special books, and I buy few of those anymore. It is definitely more convenient to have dozens of books fit in one hand, and the battery life is quite good (a month or so). Despite the e-ink display it does lose something compared to paper, though.

The biggest problem I have is sometimes I do random-access lookups of previous chapters to remind myself of something or other. "Wait, was he missing since chapter 2?" *flippity flip* "Oh, chapter 3" *right back to my place*
Hard to do with an e-reader.

So you win some, you lose some.

Yeah, most of my book consumption these days is via the Kindle App on my Android tablet and some on the PC. My wife, conversely, prefers physical books. I suppose I should be glad she's old fashioned, otherwise she would probably dump my arse... wink

That kind of (ironically) reminds me of "The Murphy" in Z Nation. winkngrin
