Fantastic. Did you all notice the pillow.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Wow ! God Bless her and the ower of her old Spit for being so cooperative. I hope that I am in half as good shape when I'm 75 let alone 100 ! In the article the young pilot spoke about her sense of location and direction. She showed me precisely how she was able to deliver all those aircraft with just a map, a compass and a stopwatch. I was utterly humbled by a superior aviator who also happens to be 60 years my senior!

Cool story, congrats to her!
I wonder, any records of ATA pilots encountering Germabs by accident? " ... In February, 1943, a taxi Anson filled with 12 ATA pilots and flown by Jim Mollison, Amy Johnson's husband, was attacked by a Messerschmidt 110. Jim made a dash into a cloud and lost the unfriendly pursuer, then put down at White Waltham ... " From: http://www.airtransportaux.com/history.htmlThe short history also recounts the obstacles faced by the first women to join the ATA.

Imagine a similar situation today. In most cases these girls were flying state-of-the-art combat aircraft. They were quite often just given a list of notes for the aircraft type they were about to ferry and told to just get on with it.
I think it was this particular ATA pilot (Mary) who landed a bomber at an airfield but the ground crew insisted on searching the aircraft for the 'real' pilot.
What they did was quite remarkable.
EV's are the Devils matchbox.
