Having a problem with my computer randomly connects every 15 min or so to the internet,,Always adware junk...If I go on the net it also connects or tries a few times,,So far AD muncher blocks them,,Ran Maleware bytes and at first it found a few things,,Noticeably some called trilobites,,,Right now I'm running a deep virus scan,,It's annoying as hell,,Started right after my grandson came over and he probably went to some weirs site kids do,,,Also looking at my folders found some with numbers for titles,,I tried deleting them but it said the folder was in use,So I figure it's something loads on start up,,I've been able to delete them in safe mode,,,Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this business??? I have no experience with handling this garbage never had it before..Thank you for any suggestions

It won't hurt to run ADWCleaner (now owned by Malwarebytes) to check for browser hijacks/pups https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/Kids,eh? My niece managed to infect my sister's PC with some ransomware. That was a PITA to remove.

Way out of the loop as far as current malware and remedies.
From what you gave said I would:
1. Reformat..kiss it all good bye. 2. get WinX up to date 3. Change every password at important places especially financial and e-mail
This is serious stuff nowadays and depending on your financial situation you may consider informing your bank, broker etc of a security breach on your end and ask for suggestions.
You might consider making the kid go thru it all with you, he might learn something.

Personally prefer Spybot as the last version of MalwareBytes I had missed something important and my PC started acting funny. Luckily, it was time for a clean wipe so I went ahead and did that. Windows Defender, Spybot (free version), some Firefox add-ons, and just sensible browsing and I'm good... fingers crossed!

There is no single solution. Here's the recipe, to be run in SAFE MODE.
AdwCleaner Junkware Removal Tool Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free HitmanPro
I think Hitman Pro(?) might have to be run normally as opposed to safe mode since it has to go online. All of those are FREE. What one doesn't catch, another should. If you get through all of them, reboot and give things a go. If that doesn't fix it, see if you have a restore point from before you remember this going on. If that doesn't work, or you have no restore points or can't go back far enough....back up files, bookmarks etc. and do a clean install. More work than that to fix it will likely not be worth the time and probably won't ever be right anyway.

Malware Bytes goes online for sure.
Trend Micro at one time for years had an awesome online anti-virus scanner, so awesome they quit giving it away.
Shut it down when you go to bed man.

OK Decided the best thing is a restore to factory settings on my HD...Ordered an external drive ,One thing I did awhile back was backup an external drive but lost the cord for it,,So I can at least copy over files to it that I know are clean...and will have the important simming stuff,,Also have an untouched 1 TB drive ,I figure time to put that puppy in and use it..Might as well do a new Win 7 install on both..Grabbing good files would save me days of downloading,,Thanks guys for the help convinced me a reinstall to factory settings is the best rout to take,,Tried it all and still getting popups being blocked by ad muncher..

Malwarebytes goes online to update, but after that should be run in safe mode if you're hunting down an issue.

Still gonna grab a 300$ net computer for the grandkids That's the best bet I feel. Both my nephew and niece frequent 'streaming' sites. They are not allowed to use ANY of my stuff, however my sister has in the past and it's muggins here who has to go and fix it.She now knows and has since made them bring their own laptops if they want internet.

Asus makes a Transformer tablet with a detachable keyboard and has Windows that's very nice but a good sacrificial option. You can often find it well under $300. Kids these days prefer portables with touchscreens or touchpads. My wife rarely has the keyboard on hers, but it's nice to have when you need it for Office.

Maybe an option is a laptop, then if (when) it gets in a pickle you can just use the recovery option to put it back to factory settings. No need to chase a hundred and one pieces of malware about the place then.
