I believe it. I've had one DOA before.
I think it also shows how many cheap hard drives are out there in Dell computers and the like. wink
Not to mention the Seagate firmware fiasco years ago blowing the curve.

Did the study include SSD drives? It doesn't look like it.

No modern SSDs have been around that long. Only the oldest models and those were already known to have poor life, they were for fast booting the OS, not meant for data retention (hence the prevalence of small boot SSD + large data HD configs years back).

The INTEL SSD that is running this computer will be 5 years old (installed) this June.

I am fairly sure that it has been "ON" for at least 3 of those years. This computer has been on 24/7 for most of it's life.
