Anyone have any good sources, books or advice about performing SEAD missions in jets not meant for the role?

Specifically I'm thinking of something like A-10's, Mirage 2000C, etc. as this is the current limitation in DCS which I fly the most.

I have a book called Viper Pilot which is all about wild weaseling, fantastic book so far, but I would like to know more about how to deal with advanced sam sites without all of the fancy ECM gear wild weasel aircraft usually have.

Thanks in advance!

Doing SEAD type missions in the A-10C/A, what you may find yourself doing is engaging Tungaska/Strela and Shilka units. The technique is to use mavericks from 5-10k altitude and engage at 5 miles or max range of the maverick. Shilka and Tungaskas have a distinctive shape so its possible to pick them out from a convoy and engage them. Another good target is the dog ear radar since it is also capable of data linking the AA units which can be difficult to engage. If you are using JDAMS or LGBs then max height release is the best approach to avoid the missiles fired by Strela and Tungaskas ideally the maverick and JDAM are the better choice since both are fire and forget. Shilkas can be engaged by the gun but at max range and you need cover to duck behind once you've fired otherwise it will get you. (that's why the A-10 has the 30mm is to be capable of doing that.) Enemy AI is a factor because in previous patches the AA units could if set on ACE AI engage incoming mavericks and bombs and destroy them. For locating such units the RWR, F10 map view and even external view and recording the vehicles long/lat numbers are ways of finding them and also tracer.lol

For A-10C set your countermeasures for Auto and select the type of threat SAM1/2/AAA etc. Its only on Auto that you have enough time to dump enough flares to avoid missiles etc.

Yeah, I generally have no problem taking out shilkas and other AAA, that stuff is fairly easy. It's the SAM sites that give trouble and I'd like to learn how to really deal with them.

Have a lot of trouble with SA-8's and SA-11's. There is one online server that has some SA-11's at a base near a mountain range, I figure terrain masking can be used to creep up to that one then fire mavericks and duck back behind a mountain, but another base has Rolands and SA-8's and the surrounding terrain is totally flat, there is no where to hide. The distance to the nearest mountain is too far for a dive toss / buddy lase too.

At the moment it can be killed with SU-25 anti radar missiles but I have enough aircraft and systems to learn and it feels weird shooting Russian equipment with Russian equipment.

For Roland you could use JDAMs at 27000ft, for S300, Buk etc. Only low altitude could give you a chance in the possibility of taking one out. Ideally the SU25T for hitting these guys and is not difficult.
1 SU25T fitted with Anti radar missiles and phasmotron pod
2 A/G mode pod on
3 when the radar signal is detected slew the seeker onto the signal lock and fire.

SU25T is not difficult.

S300 is the most difficult to take out along with a guy carrying an igla because of the massive range of the S300 and iglas are very difficult to spot.

This game is really not modeled for SEAD because it doesn't correctly emulate the IADS. SEAD refers to suppression, which is a broad spectrum doctrine based on cresting freedom of maneuver in a contested airspace. It does involve kinetic action, like putting a bomb on target, but generally the most effective means of conducting SEAD is by jamming the hell out of the IADS for just long enough to safely get your jets into their targets and get out. If you need to kill a SAM, you're going to use a TLAM or some other type of standoff weapon. You're not going to use an A-10 to DEAD an SA-10.

IIRC the only simulation that emulates IADS is Falcon BMS. You really need a dynamic campaign setup to do it.

Also every single SEAD mission in EECH is an improvised DEAD.
