Greetings All,

Since I am currently "deep in it" as regards aerodrome mods for WOFF UE I was wondering if anyone in camp would be willing to knock together a few hedgerows that I and others here could use in our various projects. For quite some time I've been painting them onto the texture tiles and while they look fine when you are at altitude they look not so fine down near or at ground level. Here are a couple of shots of my current Bray Dunes aerodrome WIP as example:

(right-click on image and open in new window to view it full size)

These would be fairly simple I should think as we would only need several stock lengths and possibly a left and right curve. I can fine tune the textures for them if someone could provide us with the folder containing the needed m3d, bdp, xdp, and dds files. In previous incarnations of OFF and WOFF having more objects at a facility was a concern in terms of performance but as this issue has been addressed with recent improvements it would be nice if we now had actual hedgerows with some real volume and substance to them.

Thanks folks!

Lou

Lou;

I will put this on my list of things to look at. No promises though! I'm a rookie at this particular skill and mostly only capable of rather boxy simplistic stuff.

Best Regards;

Box hedges would be perfect. The topiarists who would ordinarily be turning them into corkscrews and Gallic coqs were employed elsewhere during those years

We will remember them.

Hey Lou, just wondering why not use something that already exists in WOFF? Reuse, recycle or refuse.

Are you going for a different look? Mind you, I know nothing about this sort of thing (or shrubbery in general) so apologies in advance if I'm talking out of my back side.

Fullofit, while those shrubs are in the WOFF landscape they are not available as stand-alone items in the "buildings" folder, and unless someone can convert them to stand-alone items as WM did with the trees, we as modders have no access to them. Good thought though.

Ok Lou, kinda expected it couldn't be that easy.

Never is when it comes to the inner workings of this wonderful sim, much as we wish it would be. But then again, where would the challenge be if it were that easy. smile

Just out of curiosity, can you still get the CFS SDK anywhere on the web?

Oh yes, numerous places, Sim Outhouse being one. And if you have any problem finding a copy online there are folks here who can get you set up.

Aha, so those links on SOH website still work? I couldn't find out without registering, but didn't want to register just to find out the links don't work anymore. Thanks Lou, I'll have a second look there.

Here for anyone who wants it.

Vehicle and Building SDK in my drop box

Terrain SDK from my drop box

I'll have a go tomorrow morning at some hedges. I've been working on some buildings. I've got as far as exporting my models to .m3d files but haven't worked out how to get them to show in CFS3. I'm missing something.

Still, if I produce some objects that are needed, maybe we can make that next critical step.

Many thanks Maeran! It would be great if we had several folks here that could knock together the odd items when we need them for our mods.

Thank you Maeran, saved me from creating yet another account. I'll take a look at it all and maybe eventually I'll become a productive member of the community (somehow). Looks like modeling in gmax is the easiest part of the whole process, so far.

Maeran;

I'm not sure how far you got but if you managed to create m3d output with the associated ".dds" texture file, then you should only need an ".xdp" file to stabilize the model so it doesn't pop ( I can explain this if necessary) when in the sim. To get it to display in the sim you need to add the model to the "facility ".xml" file and that is all there should be to it if the model was constructed properly.

Hope that helps. If you need further info just PM me.

Cheers
