I know some are running EAW with Win 10...I'm forced to get a new machine which will have balls enough to run 10...Before I tried it and got stutters...Is there any thing I need to do with a base EAW install I fly 1.50 and FXEXE..Also any other Sims thta folks are flying on Win 10 and do they fly OK?? Thanks for any advice

New computer, cool. Win10 is pretty light of an OS. But hopefully you get something with an external, or added video card rather than relying on an on chip/or on-board video, but if not hopefully nGlide will give you proper video support for EAW.

I have a few old flight sims on my computer including Air Warrior III (I know its super old, but it runs).
Plus a few MS Combat Sims and Crimson Skies, IL2 Sturmovik and Pacific Fighters. Plus a bunch of older games.

Crimson skies you need a special win7 exe for it. Haven't played all recently so what I remember they worked.

Been trying Win 10 on my current machine and getting disappointed,,,EAW ran OK but Company of Heroes ,,Ghost Recon ,,had to window that to get it to run and a couple of old shooters wouldn't behave,,right now Have an AMD quad core running at 3.2 Ghz,,Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 TI,,16GB RAM 1 TB drive and pretty much runs everything I want and runs them well..Looking at an AMD quad core 4.0 GHZ,,Radeon R7 Video..16 GB RAM,,2TB HD..Got Win 10 on here now and can't roll it back to Win 7...Tried the HP factory reset disks and they freeze up..Might try again today maybe figure out how to format my C:\drive or grab a Seagate 1 TB from Amazon at 56$ and start fresh Don't think I'm ready for Win 10 too many older titles I still play..Crimson Skies happens to be one..And too much stuff in 10 I don't need,,,TV,Phone and one computer is all the technology I allow so at lot of Win 10 is useless to me

I had a AMD quad 3.0 with a GTX 560 and 4 gigs of ram. Things ran great. It just has to be your installation or some malware or something configured wrong.

Try to turn off Virtualization in your motherboard bios. Perhaps load optimized defaults and then disable Virtualization. I know Hyper-V made EAW stutter on Winodws.

Crimson Skies, for win7 and win10 you need that special modified main exe to run it on either OS version.


Your HP disks I wouldn't think would work anymore, Think you would have had to make a new Win10 dvd.
HP usually has a special partition on your HD where it kept win7, I know there web site had special instrustions for upgrading theire computers to win0.

My machine is set up OK been using it for 6 years...This problem happened a few years ago..I traced it to me shutting down with the power button instead of a normal shutdown..The computer might have been doing something and caused it to move stuff around...The factory disks said my drive size was wrong and that prevented Win 7 from reinstalling...I have the Win 10 cd from when the free period was going on;; So what I did was make a USB drive bootable and Formatted the hard drive to reset the whole thing and get rid of 10...Then the HP factory reset disks went in fine..now I'm back to Win 7 and reinstalling software and went to steam to get CLOD,,UG Civil War,,Order Of Battle and Shogun 2..That last one takes 12 hours or so to install gonna do that tonite,,,Also going to get a Seagate 1 TB drive from Amazon,,Use the factory reset disks on it and keep it as a backup in case crap happens again..

okay! sounds like your back to square one. Hope all works out well from now on. Your really a resourceful guy!

Good thing I keep regular backups on an external drive,,Just copy over my Flight folder to C:,,Putting the base sims/games in is easy ..It's the patches that kill you..Team Fusion for CLOD,,VP mod pack for IL-3,,B.A.T.for IL-2...Don't really know what went wrong but it's fixed now to get airborne again

Try Linux. Works for me and now I forget at times I'm not on Windows.
I've never been happier with an OS than Linux MInt Mate.

Had Linux many years ago,,How does the latest handle older sims??not just EAW but sims like IL-2,,CLOD Company of heroes,,shogun2..Can I set up a dual Boot to try it out?? i'd like to try before I buy so to speak
