In addition to Geddy, I like Rob Squires in Big Head Todd. Bass seems well rounded and represented in their songs. Of course, they were originally a 3 person band, so it's expected, I guess.
I always liked the bass players in the old country music bands. The ones that played in the Grand Old Opry. Just stoically standing in the background with the cowboy hat and smoking a pipe. Just playing two to four slow patterns through out every song. Looking barely awake. One two, one two, one two......
I just recently discovered Royal Blood, and I'm digging it!
Now, not necessarily just bass, but another great two man band that's drums and lead guitar who plays a bass line. Going back to country/blues when every guitar played a bass line.

Paul McCartney started as a bass player. He just didn't stay as one.
Didn't hurt he could also play lead, rhythym, drums, piano, and at last count over a dozen other instruments...but he's spent most of his time on piano and guitar.

Anyone who can compose their own music AND play so many different instruments AND sing is no doubt very talented regardless of whether or not someone likes his style of music.

A word to the wise ... if you happen to see Duff McKagans Its So Easy and Other Lies documentary on Netflix or whatever, youll save yourself some valuable time by not watching it.
Like this guy? Jon Camp, formerly of Renaissance. The first time I heard the bass in this song I think my jaw hit the floor. Then when I SAW him playing my tongue unrolled like a red carpet LOL
