Bought it anyway. It's worth it just to avoid the cd having to be in the drive.

That's great news indeed. I may get it then. Swat 4 Coop was absolutely fantastic but dull in single player mode.

Some of those screenshots bring back not just memories, but emotions. They really had a talent to set up stories for each level.

Ah, I just wish someone would drop in some high-res models, weapons, textures.

IIRC, MP still worked but you had to connect directly to the server or something like that. It's been a while, but it did work.

That works for me! I still have very fond memories of the coop sessions I had with Jedi Master, Bill Grant and Magnum.

I just bought it on GoG and downloading it on their galaxy client. Will let you know how mp works. The old MP was based around gamespy network. So it might be that you have to direct IP connect which will be a shame in this day and age but I dont see how they could do anything else without rewriting the code or rehosting the gamespy network.

Of course they did, they made System Shock 2 and then they went on to make Bioshock after all.

As for multiplayer I think it still works with a direct connection and LAN.

According to the comments on PCGamer: http://www.pcgamer.com/swat-4-gold-edition-is-now-on-gog/ there's a few fixes to get it working properly.

Open up ports 10480, 10481, 10482, and 10483 on your firewall.
There is also a manual widescreen fix, if gog didn't include that somehow.

Don't forget to mark the file read only or if you go into the menu it will reset it. Ignore the error message you get for doing it.

Also, if playing co-op, play it through the Stet. expansion pack. You get all of the missions but a few extra gadgets that came with the expansion.

There's one or two ongoing overhaul mods for Swat4 over at ModDB.

Great news. I have this on CD but it is real funky under Win7...I haven't even tried it in Win10.

The one mission where you have to rescue the girl from the serial killer is one of the creepiest missions I have ever played....

I might be wrong but aren't all games on GOG certified to work with Win 7 and newer OS's? I would have to check their site to confirm.

SWAT 4 was one the last decent realistic tactical shooters to come out before everything got dumbed down for mass audiences (besides ARMA 2 and ARMA 3)... I've still got it along with the add-on, haven't played it in a couple years though... Definitely worth grabbing if you haven't already!

Another one to check out is Hidden & Dangerous 2, that tac sim is still one of my favorites, loved the two WWII UDT style missions!

Both H&D games were absolutely great. They just oozed immersive atmosphere!

Unless something changed recently that is what I thought too.

I've still got my disks but I think a GOG purchase is in order. Hidden and Dangerous 2.....I'm so there with you reconmercs. I've been wanting to do another AAR for that. I did one for that Norway mission you speak of. Awesome stuff. I've been messing around with an enb I borrowed from Mafia to try it on H&D2.
