Hi All, A year or so ago I bought WoFF and found my system would not run it properly. So it has been patiently sitting on my external hard drive awaiting resurrection. I have upgraded to a good PC and have been re-installing my programs one by one. Yesterday I got around to WoFF. Crash to unusable black screen on exit from flying, even after downloading and installing the DX 9.5 as per FAQ. My version was V2.04 4236. I have uninstalled both WoFF and CFS3 and am contemplating the UE version. But at that price I think I need to know:- 1. Does it get rid of the need for CFS3? 2. Is it stable out of the box for Win 10? 3. Is there a training path that is realistic from Maurice Farman type machines and into Avro's and single seaters? If not, then it is back to my old Wings of War that I still have somewhere. That seems to have no problems with Win 10 or Windows anything for that matter. Slight problem with realism though.

Hi Baxter, Try setting the compatibility for the WOFF exe to an earlier version of Windows.
1. Yes, but OBD still say you should own CFS3. However, WOFF UE is a stand alone install. 2. Yes. 3. There is I believe the option to train before going to the front, but specific training aircraft, such as you mention are not yet in WOFF UE. You'll train on types used at the front.

1. A proper 4 GB CFS3.exe is now included in WOFF UE.
2. WOFF UE is quite stable out of the box, once you set the included CFS3.exe to Win7 or Win8.1 Compatibility. Black crashes upon exiting with Win10 is caused by not having the CFS3.exe set to Win7 or Win8.1 Compatibility.

Baxter, It's a BIG download, 4.5 GB for WOFF UE, another 2.2 GB for the (dare I say) optional skins pack, another 753 MB for more of Matt Milne's beautiful music. (I'm going to get it with the cricket bat for even suggesting the skins pack is optional... I mean, technically it is, but you can't be a member of the Barmy WOFFers Club and even entertain the idea that it's optional...) It is, of course, available now on DVD, but that's even slower than downloading (I hope...!) I bought UE immediately and have yet to get up in the air properly -gotta get more time somehow. But even the little time I've had just prior to WOFF UE, well, don't take it from me, have a look at the screenies and videos around. It's hauntingly beautiful, and it's the only sim I've ever been in that startled me with the sensation of great elevation, of really being in the sky. It's on sale - and these guys, this community is so great, you simply don't want to miss out on it. Best, Tom And I forgot to add that you can download some pretty amazing user add-ons - RAF_Louvert has made detailed maps for printing or tablet/separate screen use, as well as some marvelous airdromes and a bomb sight, others have made really great stuff as well!
Box: Win7 Pro 64 bit / I72600K @4.1 GHz / EVGA GTX1080Ti/ 16GB RAM / Corsair 240 GB SSD / WD 600 GB Velociraptor / 1050W Power FS Stuff: Saitek X52 Pro Stick/Throttle & Combat Rudder Pedals, TrackIR 5 Sims: FSX Gold, REX 2.0 OD, UTX-NA, FSGenesis 10m mesh/ CFS3 ETO 1.40/Wings Over Flanders Fields BH&H2 (more gorgeous than ever!) If not, then it is back to my old Wings of War that I still have somewhere. That seems to have no problems with Win 10 or Windows anything for that matter. Slight problem with realism though. That crash you describe sounds like a Win 10 bug that got fixed in UE. It was something to do with the menu music being enabled. Disabling menu music in the workshop fixed it temporarily but I've not heard of anyone having that same problem with UE. And the graphics performance of UE is much improved by shifting some heavy duty rendering from the CPU to the GPU... plus there's a host of new features, new planes, etc., etc.....I think you would love it! H Baxter; In answer to your question #1. You still have a need to technically own CFS3 from a Microsoft licensing standpoint but WOFF UE does not need to access the CFS3 disks or have CFS3 installed. In answer to your question #2. There are many here running it on WIN10 so you should have plenty of help if needed. In answer to your question #3. It is of course subjective and dependant on your expectations. There is a training path within WOFF UE. I have not yet tried that out. I do know that you can set up your own training path and aircraft choices with the "Mission Editor" devised by JJJ65. Others can expound on this if you ask. Have a great day mate and in my opinion go to WOFF UE is no mistake.

Did I see a " no way to train " ( ie: No QC ) statement in the first few post???
Hope not, QC is the only way this "old Geezer" can go through a full test program on the airplane I am about to fly in combat.

Hope not, QC is the only way this "old Geezer" can go through a full test program on the airplane I am about to fly in combat. QC is fully functional in WOFF UE.mate!

OK thanks you convinced me. UE downloaded and installed and running nicely. Nice one Baxter, welcome to the forum you won't be disappointed it's a great sim. A fantastic bunch of lads on here who will offer any help and advice that they can, also a great modding scene and support from the Devs that's second to none. Welcome to the meat grinder mate
