Jussi! Well I'll be damned. Great to see you, how's things? Kids all grown now I guess eh? biggrin

Yes, please dust it off and get flying. But I won't hold any expectation, after all that Durrie character popped in, was set to get back in to it, and then I haven't heard a word. Maybe he went down over the outback or something smile Probably hadn't mapped eject yet.

Jussi is another of the old gang I used to fly with in the AF days, as a matter of fact it was his server that we flew on. Using Hamachi if I recall.

Hey Jussi, any chance you've moved to the east coast of the US? Oh wait, Sweden?

Great to see you around, hope the wife and kids are doing well.

Derek

With the SimHQ server on hold, I've been tying up some loose ends on unfinished campaigns. Managed to reach two of my goals while doing so. The first was to reach the rank of full-bird colonel. This was the rank I reached back in the AF days. This one took 248 campaign missions to get

And the Air Force Longevity medal, for completing 100 consecutive missions without dying, or having a wingman die. Of course on the server I ended up flying a lot of missions with no stupid AI wingman, so he couldn't die a gruesome and preventable death. I do believe this is the first time I have ever gotten this one. There was always some thing that happened that reset my count. But this time I kept at it. I flew this last one solo. Not going to have a wingman crash on the final mission!

Long time no see, fun to see some old names for a change!

Life's good over here, daughter's almost an adult (at least legally.. rolleyes) and the little kiddo isn't so little either anymore. We moved to Stockholm six years ago, still a bit too far from your timezone I'm afraid.

I was going through some of my old stuff and happened to see my F4AF disc and suddenly became awfully interested in revisiting the mother of all flightsims. Got no PC at the moment and will be sailing in the Med for a couple of months so maybe after the summer I could start thinking about this thing again. In the meantime I'll be enjoying your AARs so keep 'em coming! Quality stuff. =)

By the sound of things I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get that damn NWS to work these days..

NWS? Bah, we just eject before the end of the runway. Vipers are disposable you know.

Well, it's great to hear from you and I hope the Stockholm life is treating you well. After summer eh? OK, it'll have to do.

I've been giving the Strong DPRK Theater Iron Fortress another go, with much more success I might add. And flying my good old Block 30. She's a sexy beast, she is. What this jet lacks in refinement and wizbangs, it makes up for with smash. It's the Viper that the other Vipers would be jealous of biggrin

Here I am loaded for a strike with four Eight-Fours at Kimhae.

Thanks Jason. The Block 30 is fast, and sexy of course. I miss the HMCS and the HTS though. If it had those two things I would probably fly this thing whenever it was available (which is only one campaign I think, but it can be edited in). It has the HMCS switch though. Is it possible there is some thing else I need to do to turn it on? Why does it have the switch but (seemingly) no HMCS?

The longevity medal was a chore. I had several long streaks broken. I had gotten it to 77 missions straight out of the box, then a wingman died on the way back to base on my first Balkans sortie. He took damage, I told him to RTB, he said I'm a dot, and was never seen again. A second streak was broken at 44 when my jet exploded as I spawned at Seosan on the server. A third streak around 40 was broken when my human wingman was killed. Too many ways this can be disrupted. So I was a bit lucky to get it. And now that I have it I don't care who gets killed or when biggrin

It's funny, but everytime I flew with a human I prayed they would be quick to eject so that they didn't die biggrin

Another random screenshot. This gives you an idea of the pace in Strong Iron Fortress, check all of those departure requests. Taegu was busy tonight! Here I taxi out, leading a four-ship on a SEAD escort mission as part of a large package to attack Kwangju airbase.

Today's random screenshot. Check this out. A crosswind of 54 knots on approach to Taegu Three-Two. I actually did a really good landing. I thought I would wreck. So cool.

The fact that there's an X on your FPM means it's not even showing up in the HUD!! biggrin

Yep, it was cool. The FPM didn't show on the HUD until I was just about over the threshold. Somehow I seat-of-the-pants'd it to the correct spot and I hit the center of the runway. As I came on short final I considered aborting and finding an alternate. But flew on in anyway smile

With Oden's server down for the evening, Cane and I hooked up for a couple of flights. Thanks Cane, that was good fun, great missions, and your performance was flawless, literally thumbsup

We flew two missions at the start of a new KTO Vet Tiger Spirit out of Kimpo in Block 50s. A HARMCAP to kick it off and a BARCAP, both near P'yongyang. My hit percentage wasn't the greatest tonight, but I did shoot some missiles more in defense than in offense if you know what I mean. There were nasty Red jets all over the place. We had a lot of missiles fired at us, but we managed to defeat all of them. It was really good stuff.

I tend to stop taking screens when I am both in combat and flying with a human. I don't like the idea of being distracted with screens and endangering the other guy while doing so. But I have a couple of shots during the more peaceful parts of our missions tonight..

One set, two set on Kimpo One-Four right.

I failed to grab the first debrief, but here is the second mission

Six of those kills were Su-30s. Great flying Cane. Every missile he fired tonight, 12 in all, killed something. That's gettin 'er done.

As I'm starting to get back into BMS after spending all year in DCS with the Rift, I just read the whole thread. Illuminating. salute

I'm in NC, DB, and am laid up from having rotator cuff surgery at the VA 3 weeks ago. I might be interested in flying some time, as I haven't flown Falcon online since the days of FF3 or so. Probably about 10 years?

Just like riding a bike, well, sort of.

Sure man, I've taken a long break and it's probably time to get back in to it. Oden made mention of perhaps getting the server going again, and I can host too.

The theory is the same, the cockpit is the same. **HOW** you do things is now different. It's like riding a bike, but now it's a different bike with more features. The skills you need is the same, but there's just more toys to play with.

Right you are Oden. There are Mark Eight Fours. And Mark Eight Fours with fancy bits.

And then there are all the other weapons that wish they were Mark Eight Fours. Like a HARM. You know that a HARM is all like, I wish I was a big boom bomb. High speed is great and all, sure, but that BOOM!

No spoofing an Eight Four.
