This thread inspired me to get back into Falcon after a long hiatus. Thanks! smile

DBond, you weren't joking about the A-10s. I have never really fragged my own flights before but for my current campaign I went all out:

I am just twiddling my thumbs waiting for ground troops to move now. I am starting to think that the A-10s might be a little overpowered..

Hey there Gryffin. Welcome back after your long time silent running. Umm, you killed everything biggrin

You left one ADA unit and even that is getting worked over by the A-10s lol (I do see there are others in the JSTARS replay, but the screenshot makes it look like you left one Red unit alive to chronicle their crushing defeat for posterity, and then decided better of it and sent the Hogs after 'em biggrin ). Very well done, that is Rolling Fire? Post in the campaign thread and tell more about your campaign. I'd like to hear about your experience getting hands on for the first time. You can direct the ground troops to take objectives to speed things up if you want. But you
probably know that.

How many kills does the squadron dialog say they got? IIRC, in my most recent Rolling Fire they ended up with over 5,000. 2,000 of those were on day one, and while I kept sending them out, I did ease the sortie rate a bit after the first day.

Thanks for the new video Jason, I will check it out! I've been out of town for a bit with work, but I should be working on the PC by mid-week and hopefully back in the air soon after. I hope to get a supporting actor credit in one of your videos soon.

I've given you guys a break from my incessant posting for the past month, but I have time Monday to tear the rig down and swap the mobo. Assuming that is a success I will be back in the air in just a few days. Brace yourselves biggrin

The plan is to get the PC actually working. Then I want to finally install U3, which I was to do the day the box died. Then download Israel or Balkans and get some new theaters to fly in.

Then get some hops in with Schnidrman. What's your schedule look like in the next few weeks Jason? If that proves a success, and no reason (aside from my wifi ) that it shouldn't, perhaps we could enlist a couple more pilots to make this a regular thing here at SimHQ. I don't want to overstep here as Schnidrman will be hosting, so he has final say. But I envision a Falcon summer here at SimHQ and I'd love to see it happen and be part of it.

Is there anyone who would want to host a dedicated campaign server? Worth a shot!

Schnidrman, I watched the second video. Great job bringing that crate home. Losing the avionics and still getting home and on the ground in good order is not easy. Loved the music too. At one point when you were in that SAM barrage and clearing over your shoulder, East Bound and Down is playing and he's saying 'Watch 'ol bandit ruuun. LOL. thumbsup

Put that hammer down and give 'er hell... dance

Jerry Reed is one of my favs. I love old truckin' songs.

Just imagine if truckers ruled the skies! I'd think the Air Force would have to modify thier brevity terminology to something like this...

When I was growing up my dad was a big fan of Willie and Waylon, their music always seemed to be playing. Not trucker music, but not far away either. While I can't say I am a trucker music afficianado, I always liked the song Convoy. That's a bit like saying to a beer connoisseur that you like Budweiser I suppose.

Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
In a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
And a Jimmy haulin' hogs
We is headin' for bear on I-one-oh
'Bout a mile outta Shaky Town
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck.
"And I'm about to put the hammer down."

'Cause we got a little convoy
Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a little convoy,
Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the U-S-A.
Convoy!

By the time we got into Tulsa Town,
We had eighty-five trucks in all.
But they's a roadblock up on the cloverleaf,
And them bears was wall-to-wall.
Yeah, them smokies is thick as bugs on a bumper;
They even had a bear in the air!
I says, "Callin' all trucks, this here's the Duck.
"We about to go a-huntin' bear."

'Cause we got a little convoy
Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a little convoy,
Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the U-S-A.
Convoy!

Well, we rolled up Interstate 44
Like a rocket sled on rails.
We tore up all of our swindle sheets,
And left 'em settin' on the scales.
By the time we hit that Chi-town,
Them bears was a-gettin' smart:
They'd brought up some reinforcements
From the Illinois National Guard.
There's armored cars, and tanks, and jeeps,
And rigs of ev'ry size.
Yeah, them chicken coops was full'a bears
And choppers filled the skies.
Well, we shot the line and we went for broke
With a thousand screamin' trucks
An' eleven long-haired Friends a' Jesus
In a chartreuse micra-bus.

Well, we laid a strip for the Jersey shore
And prepared to cross the line
I could see the bridge was lined with bears
But I didn't have a dog-goned dime.
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck.
"We just ain't a-gonna pay no toll."
So we crashed the gate doing ninety-eight
I says "Let them truckers roll, 10-4."

'Cause we got a little convoy
Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a little convoy,
Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the U-S-A.
Convoy!

I mean, how can you not like that? biggrin

Oh yeah, ya gotta do it.

I hope to be flying again tonight! Say a prayer for me and the mobo swap. If this doesn't work I will enter a deep depression fueled by alcohol and Lynyrd Skynyrd tunes.

Thanks. Gotta get the boy from school after work, then walk/feed dog and make dinner. Then, I'm telling Ben he can either 'help' me or go play PS4 and I am going to dig in to this. Should take an hour to get it running, and another hour to clean up my cabling if stage one is a success.

I probably forgot everything I just learned. How do I engage nose wheel again biggrin

I missed the sacrifice, but that was good advice. Posting from my desktop. Back in action. Now I just have to reroute and tie up the cables. thumbsup

Thanks Ice. Installed U3 and fired up a campaign. What's the difference between halt and stop on the campaign clock?

Installed the Balkans theater and flew 3 missions in Balance of Power. Good stuff. Tower comms caught me out, but I checked the charts and saw that my airfield was on a victor channel. Balance of Power is a proper campaign and it's fun to be flying it again. I chose Balkans as my first BMS add-on theater over Israel because I'm a little freaked out about fighting F-16s. Like in RPGs when you have to battle your character's likeness. I'll get it all the same sooner or later.

Did have a setback. Not sure what caused it. I had accrued 77 missions toward the achievement medal or whichever you get for 100 consecutive missions. Checked the logbook after my last hop and it was reset to zero. My wingman got killed, rest his soul, but I didn't. Not sure why it was reset to zero.

You cannot lose anyone in the package if you are flight lead, otherwise, it's back to zero. This includes other flights in your package, not just your flight.

Edit: no difference between Halt and Stop. I think they just put Halt in to help non-English speaking players. I believe it can be removed in the Config. folder of your install.

Thanks for the clock explanation. I lost plenty of wingmen in Korea without it affecting the mission count. Well, then, that will be a tough one to get. Or just fly Korea if it isn't tracking it properly smile
