Just saw on the news a 12 foot gator crossing a path,,,And a few fools standing a few feet away with cell phones taking pictures,,Seems stupid to me if the Gator attacked them they would probably sue someone..Last year a you baby was taken by a gator wading where there were danger signs all over..Guess you can't protect people from themselves

It seems many people have this flawed notion that all animals are just cuddly "Carebears" that will be calm and nice to them as long as they are nice.

Those people in the pic are idiots. Definitely potential Darwin Award winners.

People do not realize how fast even a good size gator like that can move. Certainly not for long, but a quick burst of speed is usually all they need.
Notice all the "extra" skin in the gullet of that gator. Quite capable of ingesting large "pieces".
Censored

Yup. Had the gator been hungry or just in a bad mood that day, it would have had 4 extra large snacks.

Supposedly that gator is well known in that area, they call him Hunchback.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.
As big as he is as soon as he went in tall grass you could not see him, not sure I would be wandering around that reserve knowing he is in there somewhere . . .chomp chomp

Went to Yellowstone a couple times in 2014 While staying in Cody. The place is a ZOO. You must time your visits to real early in the morning to see any of the sites. We were caught in a 2 hour traffic jam when people stop in the middle of the road to take pictures of the Buffalo. When we pulled in to the upper Yellowstone falls parking area there was a group of people climbing up a hill through the trees to Get better photos of a huge Bull Elk. We are talking 10 to 15 ft. We left, did not want to know what happened next.
I know right where this video was taken. The road into the Lamar valley. Idiot highway.
Alligators can make 20+ mph in short sprints, one this large probably a little less than 10 but more than fast enough for a fat lady and her kids watching through a cell phone screen. I live in Florida, It's not uncommon for a business near a major thoroughfare to find a Gator sitting on the sidewalk sunning himself in front of the door during mating season or swimming in a suburban Apt Complex Lake because of all the waterways and storm sewer pipes. I can't begin to tabulate all the Gators, Water Moccasins, Rattlesnakes and various other critters I have seen here, there is even footage of a Croc (yes a Crocodile) carrying someones Black lab in his mouth under boat docks at a Condo with water access near Boca Grande. People are still stupid when it comes to interacting with wild nature. I once saw a Heron catch and kill a Squirrel of all things on the bank of a lake at the Apts. I lived at only to be himself taken by a Gator lurking at the waters edge and it took less than 10 seconds and they were gone leaving just a few feathers as evidence. I was mad at the first and terrified at the second because it all happened so fast.
