We get that in Carolina a lot. Don't go out. You'll get hurt or hurt someone else.
Tell your son to hunker down in the store for the night.
Been through this so times. When we first started our job here in 94 we got hit with a crippling
ice storm late January. We had a good 3" coverage. Power was out for days and my only driveway
is a hill. Had to go get 8/50lb bags of softener salt to start on the hill. My sidewalk was another
story. Had to hand chop that one off, 2 weeks worth of work. Went to -32F the night after locking in
good.
Never forget getting my drivers license and driving out to good friends house 20 miles away and
and get hit by in ice storm along the way. At 16 I had confidence. And even passed a state trooper
in the ditch and stopped to ask if he needed a ride. He told me help was on the way and to be careful.
Just smiled and drove the 3 miles more to his house. Never a problem when your dad teaches you to drive
on a frozen lake at age 14. Had a blast, and he made we learned how to handle the car on ice.
Never forgot that lesson and even with newer front wheel drives makes it even easier to move on ice.
Time to go out and throw down as much rid ice as I can before venturing out.
