Most, if not all of these "lotsa mods" are usually made to be compatible with 4.12.x, so I have no idea why the GOG even offers a downgrade to 4.10, as that one is badly outdated and would be pretty much useless, not only from modding point of view, but also from installing a clean copy point of view (there were a crapload of fixes, improvements and features added by Team Daidalos in their official patches between 4.10 and 4.13.x).
I can only imagine getting a 4.10 if You want to patch it up to 4.12 Yourself and then carry on with C.U.P./B.A.T mod compilation from SAS guys, because I guess it would be difficult to downgrade manually from 4.13 to 4.12 (maybe it's possible, never tried it). Maybe that's what GOG's idea was, but in that case, they should go 4.12 in the first place.

I think that back when they first offered the 'downgrade' it was still relevant. I know I used it to enable me to install certain mods.It was a while ago now though.

The downgrade to 4.10 is what you needed to install DBW, at least it used to be. There is still a lot of content out there for DBW, so I'm sure there are still some folks running it in addition to the newer installs. I think I've got 4 or 5 installations right now, including DBW. Hadn't gotten around to CUP, but now I see BAT and may add it at some point. In fact, a question for anyone who knows for sure. Can BAT run the DBW user made campaigns? That's what I've been waiting for, a single installation that can run most of the DBW, Ultra Pack, and stock campaigns on Mission4Today. How about the Lowengrin and Asura dynamic campaigns? Will they run on BAT? I know there are some incredible new campaigns for CUP/BAT, but what about the 700+ campaigns on Mission4Today for DBW, UP, stock IL-2, Lowengrin, etc? Has there been an overall consolidation of the user made campaigns as best as possible in BAT? Thanks!

Bucksnort, I don't thing DBW stuff will work well with BAT, there's too much "new" stuff in BAT. Plus DBW stuff that relies on the C&C mod won't work right or at all as far as I know. Last time I tried to run older stuff in CUP I had spawning in buildings and that sort of thing. You will never (IMO) see a single installation that will run everything because all of them are built for something different. Rant mode on: Before I lost my desktop around Christmas, I bit the bullet (again) and installed the new updated CUP now called BAT. Supposed to be all fixed, no conflicts, easy install and it was. One mega install. Ran fine for me, no issues that I noticed. Loaded a lot faster. Fast forward to now. Went to re-install on my new desktop and we're back download this mega file and then back to the install this update, delete this folder, reinstall this. The same stuff that turned me off before because I got tired of the this update breaks this, this update restores that but breaks something else. Not worth it to me, so I went back to VP modpack. YMMV. Rant off... No consolidation and very little rebuilding for CUP/BAT Anyway, hope that answers your question...

Thanks, Dave, yes it does! I haven't looked at the VP Modpack. I hear lots of good things about it, but haven't dug into the details. Where does VP Modpack fit in? What categories of campaigns can VP Modpack run? I prefer the static linear user campaigns, but Lowengrin and Asura are fun also. Are there new "VP Modpack" campaigns being developed? Thanks. Your answer was super helpful. Caught me up in a couple of paragraphs!

VP modpack has some additional aircraft, mostly the more mainstream and less esoteric ones. It is a very noticeable improvement graphics wise on a whole lot of maps and air frames. It has good cross compatibility with campaigns for both stock and other modpacks (not perfect, just depends on the campaign). There are new campaigns being developed, several being adapted and it ships with several new ones. Runs great and loads fast and contains most of the big upgrade packs for the major aircraft.

I have decided to reinstall it using the GOG version, which I guess is 4.13.2, but it also comes with the option to 'downgrade' to 4.10.
Redux: I guess my copy of 4.13.4 got 'corrupted' or something; I uninstalled it & reinstalled it, with the intention of downgrading it and patching up to 4.12, then installing BAT. 4.13.2 Started up fine so I took the next step by running the program to 'downgrade' to 4.10. However, now when I try to start the game it won't run--or should I say it simply doesn't start up-we don't 'crash' to desktop, it simply nothing happens.
Any idea what is going wrong?
I am using Win 10, just so you know.

I am using Win 10, just so you know. Do you still have a clean copy of v4.13.4 NickM? As soon as you ran the v4.13.2 downgrade program from GoG you probably messed it up. There are multiple files in the v4.13.3m and v4.13.4m patch that won't be removed from your install which makes it unplayable. If you still have the clean copy of v4.13.4m this may work for you? - Make a new copy of the v4.13.4 install on your system.
- Download and run this downgrade program at SAS which will get you back to v4.12.2m
4.13.X Unpatcher (Roll back your INT 4.13.X to INT 4.12.2): https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,55464.0.html - If necessary, Run the GoG downgrade patch to get to v4.10m.
- Confirm that it runs as v4.10m
- Save a copy of this v4.10m install
Use this patching guide at M4T to patch the v4.10m version to the required patch level for the mods you wish to run. IL-2 1946 Installation and Patching Guide: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base&op=show&kid=584Wheels

Which poster? Did you look at your Config.ini file? Do you need more help? I ALWAYS need more help ESPECIALLY if you're a trained psychologist...but as for computers, yeah, I really don't know much 'bout the terminology. ; That being said, I think I will wait to do some upgrades & repairs for my 'rig' before I dive into this. My daughter is in High School so probably I will have to wait for after Christmas.

Which poster? Did you look at your Config.ini file? Do you need more help? From past experience with SAS from a few years back, I found their advice was what I'd call the 'Sheldon' answer when what I needed was the "Penny" answer.

How about asking anyone who helps you for your money back. Oh wait, their volunteering to help you. Complain to their supervisor. Oh wait, its not their job and their just trying to help you.
You have a really bad day Hairog? Just a little confused at the moment since you have always been quite helpful with your posts and the post I quoted seems somewhat out of character. (I read the thread again to see if I missed something but I don't see it. ) Wheels

Sorry NickM and wheels, that was supposed to be a joke. Hard to convey humor without body language and vocal nuance.I was trying to play off of NickM's comment "I find the posters' advise to be somewhat unhelpful.". If you have to explain a joke therm it's not a joke. Hence my comments with needing the 'Penny' response not the 'Sheldon' response.
