Looking to upgrade my 22" 1680x1050 monitor. It is working fine, but I have been craving a larger one.

Newegg has these two monitors on sale for $~100. I know they aren't top of the line gaming monitors, but neither is my current one, nor is my budget Top of the Line smile

I am leaning toward the HP due to the GTG response time but maybe that is just marketing hype. Acer draws a bit less power. Amazon has the Acer for the same 109.99 price point without a special code....

Sale ends in 15 hours for the HP smile No doubt, there will me another one soon, though...

Thanks for any advice..

22 in to 24 in is not much of a "real estate" increase...better resolution though.

That Win 7 box in your sig could push a 27 in @ 1920 x 1080. I'd save up and wait for next really good sale on a 27" personally.

I have had like 5 Acer monitors. I am still using a 27" and 24" Acer and they are both over 5 yrs old.

Thanks... I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that it might be best to wait for a good sale on 27" monitors. My son, however is eagerly awaiting the hand-me-down of the 22" monitor smile which makes a 24" the choice du jour. winkngrin

+1 to a 27" that's 1920x1080. Any monitor above that res seems like it's too expensive. Compare a 24" that's 1920x1080 with a similar 24" but is of higher res and look at the jump in price...

I've got a 24" 1080 monitor and it's fine. I wish I had G/Freesync on it, but other than that it's doing what I need.

The main issue is how far you sit from the screen. For me, 24" is almost perfect. I think a 27" would take too much space on my desk, if they made like a 25.5" that would be ideal, but noooooo you have to jump a full 3 between sizes.

Still contemplating. To paraphrase the famous quote about Men (or was it Women) for which I cannot find attribution other than this:

An ASUS 27" IPS monitor for $149.99

I am thinking along the lines of Jedi Master above that given how close I sit to the monitor, 24" might still be the sweet spot...

Thanks for all the input.

22" to 24" isn't much of a felt difference. I have a 22" touchscreen and a 24" touchscreen in front of me now and if I didn't know they were different, I couldn't tell. Going from a 24" to a 27", however...
