Yes, I read where the Acer plans to release HDR monitor around Q2 of next year (Predator XB272-HDR).
It is once again moving faster than mortal man can keep up, but I’m not one to jump on all this stuff right out of the gate, or pay the price.
I usually stay a step or two below bleeding edge tech and games (which reduces the cost of all this stuff tremendously). I upgrade as I need, as the edge grants (cost wise) until it’s time to build a new rig. Heck, I just dropped my XP rig less than a year ago and it ran all I needed just fine.
Even games can wait. Still being a newb here, seeing all there is to do from skins, to lore and history, geography, immersion, to the different campaigns, I’ll be busy for a few years at least, before I’m ready for the next tech step.
It is why I set my rig up the way I did, with the power, cables, cooling to support SLI. Monitor was next in line, then as demand rose (and prices dropped) I was going to just add in another 980 gtx.
All I needed was a larger, better monitor for now, so pushed it a bit this time, and purchased the Predator XB271HU to run with my 980 gtx…and this game just came to life, and it screams on max settings. Well worth it, and what an amazing, amazing difference with a big, fast, IPS. Even tracR seems more real.
I know there are guys that love bleeding edge, want the next great game in their library, the next step up in speed and graphics, but I’m older, in no hurry at all. I just enjoy it all a few years later. Right now I’m set up for at least the next four or five (which is about what it will take me to enjoy all the current titles that I want to play), and will just keep chugging along a few steps behind.
…But it is tempting.
