77_Scout,

Terrible luck mate, I personally feared flying the EIV due to the Nieuport maneuverability.
I think the braver men in this contest are the Bosche pilots.

You are having some serious action out there Lederhosen. A bullet in the petrol tank is cutting things close.

A frustrating patrol for a few reasons:
Was so tired during this flight, Literally Physically tired, I wasn't able to focus properly and completely lost track of our 2 Seater enroute to the patrol area. Couldn't find him. did howerver find Several enemy and tried to turn away but they kept after us until it started to become a threat.

So we turned to fight and I brought down an enemy( Pictured over right wing below), my winger filed 2 claims.
However I was so tired when I finished the flight, I think I simply hit DONE and not Details to file my claim (HAHA).
I found myself at the Debrief's debrief screen and news for next day, very confused.

Alas, Safe and sound landing. The Adjutant informed us of the loss of our two squadron mates. They'll be missed.

And the second one for this week, won't have time between now and saturday so here it is!

A very exciting few days in the simulation.

For his 2 victories on 7th May, Capt. Lucas Harrison was awared the Military Cross.
Today (May 10th) he shot down another enemy Fokker and attacked a balloon. He was on the 12th, awarded the D.S.O.
Becoming the squadron's first ace with 3 victories in 4 days, he stands with 6 to his credit.
My second ( a Balloon) was confirmed on the 11th.

Pictures Below!!

HarryH, will do. It's a new week starting tomorrow (Saturday) so I am enlisting my 2nd pilot as a rookie Flieger in KeK Bertincourt.

Dear lads of Team Germany: I only get points now for aerial victories, so you're kind of on your own (grin). Me in an EIII won't exactly be a a threat to the Entente war effort!!

After something like 16 RiR missions, a successful dogfight!

Edward Cavendish, May 7th 1916.

Lead B flight of two Bristol Scout (me and Barker), to cover A-flight of three on an observing mission.
Route: Baizieux, NE to observation Baloon SW of Arras. Then E to infantry position W of Monchy-le-Prieux and back. 5800 feet.

On midway to Arras I lost the recon flight in the clouds.

Decided to continue with Barker along the route. To eventually scout and drive off enemies away of the recon path. Was a good choice indeed cause two little spots were over the lines! I closed up to check if I had reconnected the recon patrol.

They were german indeed! After few seconds one Fokker was diving head on me. His wingman splitted and for now I lost track of it! Barker was combat ready too. Here we start the dance!

Found out my opponent quite skilled and brave, in its green machine. I had to keep turning and couldn't shake it off my tail. Barker did a great covering job, turning opposite direction of me. Down and down we turn untill the Fokker was too low and found itself in a bad spot. That was the chance I was looking for! Occasionally the second tan colour Fokker appeared in my field of view.

I could see my tracer entering its cockpit, scrap metal and red sparks coming off the pilot instruments! Starts spinning and down! Turning to look at his crash site I found the second Fokker on my tail too, he was able to place hits! Luckily my Bristol was good, holes in the wings!

Where's Barker?

I could out turn him and play again the same game, turn turn and let's go down. My scout climbs faster than yours. So, again I put myself behind the german scout and place hits. He descend fast, trailing smoke and is forced to land just behind german lines!

Cannot see Barker, but a smoking wreck which I am not sure is the first Fokker is not too far from me. I better head home and check my damages. Landing in my airfield: one, two, three... I can count ten bullets holes. Lucky me!

Now let's hope the recon flight is fine on his own... and here they come! Great Mission! Barker is injured but safe.

Put in two claims, but Barker was able to confirm only the first one. His plane, badly damaged, has been written off. The forced to land Fokker maybe was not accepted as a victory since it landed in his own lines.

Received the squadron congratulations! Great mission!

Just read about you Father, Harry - all the Best from me, too

As for John Hornet: I'll pause this Week and fly only one Mission next Week because of the 9 Days Hospital, his Crash ended in...

Back in action with my second pilot; rookie Gustav Woernlein. Only 6 pilots in our KeK and all stuck with old Fokker EII's.

May 13, 1916 and we patrolled friendly front lines.

I followed along with Kette Eins and we stumbled on two BE2c's. I put in a claim for one, although my Rottenflieger actually did most of the work (but he made no claim ... think I had the last bullet hit?).

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes. I'm back home, somewhat jet lagged but eager to fly!

My dad's progressing remarkably well. We caught it early and he's getting great care. The NHS is hard pushed at the moment but I'm extremely grateful to the stroke team at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill who are doing a great job for my dear old dad!

I'll get scores updated and posted sometime tomorrow. Fantastic reports everyone!

Again escort 2 x Be2C on a Recon flight. Lost them again in the clouds, but this time failed to intercept enemy scouts.

My patrol landed back at our aerodrome, then we wait all the evening for the 2-seaters to come back.

In the end the pilots and observer has been filed as missing. Hopefully captured and not dead.

I feel guilty for failing to protect them.

HarryH, all the best for your father, glad to hear he is in good hands!

Had two more missions the last week with Cpt McCudden, both objectives were arty spotting over enemy emplacements, 7th of May, flight of one escorted BE2 and me, and 10th of May, A Flight of BE2 escorted by the two of us in B-flight.
In opposition two my first two missions, these were both eventless, no enemy sightings, but the spotters completed their missions and all of us returned unharmed. Little behind in reporting, was busy last week...

Great to hear the good news about your Father Harry.

Unfortunately Vinzenz luck ran out.

13 May 1916

Mission: Patrol Behind Friendly front lines.
Mission began just fine. Somewhat cloudy skies but enough breaks.
Flight formed up and flew to western most way point to start patrol
On the first dew east leg, spotted some dots in the distance.
Turned out they were above us and we were heading right for them.
Still not quite sure who they were, we continued east.
Getting closer, saw them break toward us, I gave the command to RTB, but they were on us.
A pair of N11.
I tried to evade and runaway, but did not last long.
I soon was rolling to the left and could not recover.
My wing man was downed also.

That's and understatement Bud! In our defense, they are a bear to fly. Glad your Father is doing better Harry. I hope he makes a full recovery.

Hopefully I will be back in the skies this week. You folks are putting up some seriously nice screenshots!

Oh no! The Central Powers are struggling mightily. A "Wane of the Scourge" indeed! Meantime I scored my first ever RiR points with a "successful mission". That's me done for this week and we're scheduled to take the week off after this one for the holidays.

Scoring to date....
