RIP. I never watched "Growing Pains" or "Family Ties" (I get the two confused), wife watched them.

Age 69 again?! Looking at pics, he doesn't look like someone who would just kill over.

If you want to have a better chance to live longer keep your weight down, watch what u eat & drink better and walk fast for 30 min at least 4x a week - and stop taking aspirin or other pills every time you have a slight head ache or feel bad.

That's Hags Recipe for a longer life - provided of course you don't get mowed down while trying to collect road kill for your supper

Better yet, ignore Haggart's medical advice regarding aspirin. Aspirin saves lives!

Another celeb gone at age 69. This is getting really bizarre.

Hey PM ... nothing is really bizarre anymore

In reality, we were young and grew up with this.. Sure, some go quicker, some go further..
When the clock strikes midnight it all over Red Rover.

I live on borrowed time every day.

All in all ... Still sad

Actually, the only thing I think bizarre is that people attribute any meaning to the age or time when people die. It's coincidence and statistics, probably two of the most boring things ever coming together to somehow provide wonder?
Given a large enough pool of people (famous people), it's not hard to find a similarity in most areas.

According to statistics, 46% of people reading this thread are likely to suffer the same fate at some unknown date in the future.

Actually, that figure should be pretty much exactly 100% given enough time. wink

Valar morghulis.

What I didn't know was that Alan wrote so many old TV theme songs, like Facts of Life, and even is the one who wrote and sung Diffrent Strokes.

I played pick up hockey for years (until I blew my knee out and had to have surgery). I remember there were always a few older, over weight guys guys out there 'huffing and puffing". Their faces were red as hell too. It is a serious cardio workout. It is a lot of fun, but at a certain age you have to be careful doing it. He looked good for his age. You just never know I guess.

I think Robbster was referring to dying specifically from a heart attack.

My ashes will be spread at Big Bend National Park in "The Basin" section of the park. My wife's in the same place. Our kids will have to get out and enjoy the great outdoors to visit us.

Plenty of people in fine shape have heart attacks and most overweight people don't have heart attacks.

Especially when the causes are so diverse. Whether you're 16 or 61 you can have one, diet and exercise seeming to take a backseat to plain old random chance. Heredity does drive it to quite a large extent, though. If you have a family history of it, you're at risk.

Really, Spreading your ashes in the wilderness is a form of pollution and can lead to climate change.

Heredity/genetics has a huge impact on both the probability of getting cancer and in having a heart attack.
