Good point Coot, without a good story and presentation even the Ace Combat games would fell short. We will have to see for ourselves I guess. The author however seems to be on the right track.

The current goal for Project Wingman now is to at the very least get a game that plays as well as the classic titles and add a few game modes and features that was missing in the Ace Combat games.
Obviously I will do a Campaign for the game as that was initially the main goal for Project Wingman. This part of the game is mostly feature complete and if I started working on the assets now I could get a campaign out within two or three months (but I’m not doing that just yet and that’s a very optimistic guess by me). Now of course it definitely won’t be as grand or as high budget as what Project Aces can do with a full team and publisher backing, but I will still do my best to deliver an amazing experience.
As for the second part its mostly for the gameplay aspect of the game, I understand a sizeable amount of the player base plays these games for the story, however I’m going to be addressing the gameplay and replayability aspect of the game.
I plan on having some kind of Dynamic Campaign / Endless mode as a separate gamemode to the Campaign. I have no idea how far I want to take this concept yet and I do have a lot of features I want to add but it really depends on how big the scope creep gets and how well I can tame the bloody thing. Like having to manage your own squadron that can level up and die in combat depending on the scenario, Having your own Air Fleet/ Naval Fleet to use in specific scenarios, Dynamic mission selection etc. (Just don’t treat this as a planned feature yet because it’s still a wishlist on my end too).
Regardless of what happens. I will still do my best.
