Interesting comments here from a Blackhawk pilot on Reddit comparing VR to a high-end training device....(!)

It's getting harder and harder to put off spending a ridiculous amount of money on a new rig and a Rift, with articles like that...

Nate, if you can swing it, you will certainly not regret it. Worth every penny. I have had my Rift for 6 months now and it still wows me every time I use it.

Here's one.

Not VR, but one heck of a 'reality' ride.

I hate you so much, in the best possible sense smile

Lets get over Christmas, then I can dream ...

You've probably touched on it elsewhere, but what kinda specs does your computer have?

I bought one of the Oculus ready PC's. It is an ASUS G20 and the original specs were: Intel core i7 6700 4.0 GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive, 256 GB Solid-State Drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 graphics card.

I just put a GTX1080 in it after a moment of weakness duh.

That's not weakness, life is too short to play games at low frame-rates and low resolution.

Nate: one of the standout titles for immersion and gob-smacking realism is DCS. Why look into a cockpit through a 2D letterbox, strap yourself into the cockpit instead. I fell off my chair a few months ago leaning out of my pit checking out the Shark's stub-wings. What on earth are you waiting for? Christmas is all about treating yourself, it's not all about 'giving' contrary to popular belief! yep

Well, it certainly weakens your bank account. smile

I'm looking at a 1070 myself, but I may wait till the next generation next year first, at a minimum to knock the 1070 price down if not to get that itself.

I don't think VR has a hard-and-fast definition smile it's recently become associated with 3D headsets, but really it's a subset.
