Hmph.

I guess we'll see how much demand there is for something like this. I have no idea how the DCS campaigns sell, so I have nothing to compare it to beyond "if enough people buy it they'll make more."
I wonder if the level of activity will be higher than in the random missions because they can control things more precisely.

We had those in the old IL-2 days and I still preferred the dynamically generated missions.

$10 seems like a bit much for 1 skin and 15 missions, I'd like a bit more info before I purchase. Other than that, I fly offline only, so fingers crossed this is good.

$10 has become the accepted pricepoint for campaigns in many sims now.

I'm not positive how many missions they usually are because TBH I've never bought one that I can recall. smile I've purchased planes that come with campaigns, terrains that came with them, and whole sims of course, but never a set of missions, with or without skins.

My guess is that anyone who has pre-ordered BoK would likely be interested in this campaign. Whether or not the campaign is worth $10 may not be important as long as it helps keep the "lights on".

Yep. Depending on how well it is received these types of "addons" could generate pretty significant revenue versus their cost to make compared to other content for the sim. The main thing is that they will have to be well made so the Player feels inclined to buy more of them.

My initial thought was that ten dollars was too high but that is before I thought about how two cups of coffee from Starbucks can easily cost that these days.

Interesting. I've never considered these new IL-2 games so far as they lacked some in-depth campaign modes, but I'll certainly keep an eye on this when it's released (plus the recent announcements regarding the career mode).

Yes I would perhaps support if they'd use the money generated by selling missions for improving the games foundation such as AI, better prop animation, etc

From DD 141

Quote:

This week we also opened pre-orders for our first scripted historical campaign called Ten Days of Autumn. This campaign brings the classic gameplay valued by genre veterans – a historical campaign made of scripted scenarios. The significant improvement from a similar mode presented in our earlier Rise of Flight is that anyone familiar with Mission Editor can create and distribute Campaigns and it will include the ability to use media such as images and videos to tell the story. If anyone wants to create a Campaign and distribute it freely, he or she can do this without our assistance. However, if you have the talent to create a really good, complex and engaging campaign then you can earn money from selling it using the same protection system we use for official campaigns.

Our first official scripted campaign Ten Days of Autumn is made by the famous Alexander =BlackSix= Timoshkov, who made similar campaigns that were distributed via discs for IL-2: 1946. Ten Days of Autumn tells the story of a German pilot from 3./JG 52 squadron during the Battle of Moscow and consists of 15 historical scenarios flown with the Bf-109 F-2.

Similar do DCS campaigns approach.

BTW - User made IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server Manual (350 page) manual.

I just tried the link and worked fine for me. You may want to try again.

You have to login to the forums first. Once you do that, the link works.

Is this campaign pack only a couple of separate missions like we did see in Rof?

For those who like to test the new scripted campaign mode before they spend any money on payware campaigns, here is a 20 mission Yak-1 campaign on the Stalingrad map:

Airplanes are now built to carry a pilot and a dog in the cockpit: the pilot's job is
to feed the dog, and the dog's job is to bite the pilot if he touches anything...
