...as for Motor-Blipping: If you blip too much in a short Period of Time, your Spark Plugs get fouled!!! I always thought, this was merely an occasional Malfunction of my Joystick - but I changed Controls for a Test - and now I can say: OBD did even manage to implement Spark-Plug-Fouling into WOFF! You never cease to impress me, Guys...

I live in a very small RV and have no room for maps and lots of screens.
You might try using a paper map. I print out map on a normal sheet of paper and set it somewhere handy (lap, shelf, whatever) for reference. Takes up little to no space. Pretty hard to navigate in RIR with no map, so hope you figure something out.

I've mapped the mixture increase /decrease buttons to my joystick and I've set them to zero increments in the workshop with the advanced button mapping control. Then I take off at full throttle and use the mixture decrease button until it starts to take effect, at which point there are two or three stages of decrease in RPM per click. The decrease becomes more dramatic below 5,000 ft. I find I can use the decrease / increase mixture controls to control engine speed in flight quite effectively. For landing I decrease mixture on approach and then when I'm close enough I cut the engine and glide in, as seems to have been the historical way. I'm going to try this in the challenge and hope not to mess up! H Good stuff. I will try to do the same as I have mixture mapped to my joystick buttons already.

1 May 1916 Vinzenz Korhorz Weather: Nice weather, sunny with clouds. Mission: Patrol enemy front lines near Arras Report: All take off fine, have to go slow as Kohlmann still has an EIII. We form up and climb to altitude then head North West to our patrol zone. About 10 minutes in my engine starts spilling oil, I pull out of formation and Eisenberg carries on. Trying to nurse my engine home, she catches fire. I kill the engine and put her in a dive. That plus running out of benzin, extinguishes the fire. But I got a bit singed. By then I was pretty low and fortunate enough that there was a pretty big field close by. I put her down with incident. Eisenberg never made it back, from Kohlmanns report heard they tangled with a two seater. Eisenberg got some good hits in but the gunner got a lucky hit in and down he went. Kohlmann managed to finish off the two seater and he went down just on our side of the lines. Does not seem like a very successful mission, but the Kommandant still gave us an excellent work. I will be spending 10 days in the hospital. So does this count as losing a flight member, even though I was no longer in control?

Mission #1, May 1 1916, Patrol Enemy Frontlines: An uneventful first mission, giving me a chance to learn the local area a bit and to get the feel of my new mount. Impressions: The EIV's engine sounds wonderful ... confidence inspiring. The plane flies very nose heavy and requires a lot of back-stick just to fly level. Navigation is badly hampered by the lack of downward visibility due to wing size and placement. Our home airfield of Bertincourt coming into sight:

On the mission report the date is 2016, not 1916!
01st May 2016
Escort A flight on reconnaissance mission.
Nothing to notice, just artilery shelling. No enemy sight in the air. Haha, 100 years too late!!! Like a time-warp happened. I think you can edit the year in the mission report form H

Stache, great report. You did well to get down in one piece and survive! No I don't think we can charge you for that loss. It's down to Eisenberg for deciding to carry on without you and sadly he paid the price. H

[b]The Accounting of my first sortie for Desmond C. Harlowe in RiR! Bit crowded, but hope you enjoy the read.
I didn't know until making it back to the field, but Hoskins and Hoffman had arrived safely. Apparently having claimed shooting down the other fokker machine. The distance between us was great enough I could not (despite trying twice) reach Hoskins BE2 to help and was dragged into my own battle where we became separated. Needless to say I'm sure Harlowe received an earfull from Hoskins on where i had been. Well after a heartfelt accounting of why i'd left him and his gunner to fend for themselves, it's off to the mess.....well now to bed ! Nice one man! And cheers for the awareness, I would like to know how you felt when you noticed that black point diving on you!

zifnow, Truthfully I didnt see them right away( just updated the post explaining). We were on our 4th circuit around I believe and I had been zipping back and forth between the clouds in the "Circuit" cut out for us. about mid-mud I looked back right to cut back and noticed the BE2 I was escorting this time cut across a channel through the clouds as if to duck down and run through cover. I throttled up got fairly close but couldn't see anything. It was when I started blipping my engine I could hear the buzzing bee sound of the Fokker EIIIs. It did come as a great surprise as I saw them only within the last 10 seconds or so of their diving attacks. They split one for each of us and took their own "man". I tried to throw off my attacker and catch up to Hoskins BE2 but the German focused on me would quickly come around and be in a killing attack angle, forcing me to turn back. Finally I resigned to the fight I had and wished Hoskins the best. In short, bit unnerving. Really didn't expect any action first day to the lines. I was having so much "fun" it really did surprise me. Thankfully Hoskins actions tipped it off. His observer must have seen them. Cheers

Fabulous report Jenks! Great pics and Army Form WW3348 is an absolute gem! Congrats on your victory!
By coincidence I just completed my first mission and it was very similar to yours. I was the lone escort to two BE2Cs up to that same area SE of Arras. We were attacked by three Eindeckers over German lines, only our assailants were from Kek Vaux (Jasta 4). I'll try to get the report written up later, but suffice to say it was the single most exciting campaign mission I've had yet in WOFF!
What a start to the challenge!
Cheers
H Thanks kindly Harry!(A few less screenies I think next time haha) Well perhaps you were the early dawn patrol run or the afternoon second go. I'll be in the mess, come by and let's hear it over a drink!
