Just got the beta announcement for Dovetail's newest project. I am looking forward to seeing what they have done using the U4 engine.

Run 8 V2 released, and it includes graphics updates and AI done differently than MSTS/RW/TS20xx which is great since the sim is, for lack of a better term, "open world" (at least in the operations sense)and shouldn't be tied to pre-made scenarios/activities. The AI helps fill out the multiplayer aspect very well, and it works well for those who'd rather enjoy the sim single-player.

Hopefully the new graphics engine will solve those pesky little pauses, if not, I won't be buying it.

What's your best assessment of Run 8? I have TS 17 and it's ok but looking over Run 8, seems to be a much higher fidelity simulator in every aspect, though they do not have the amount of scenery available as TS 17 has.

Also, I see much to do about multiplayer and that's great news. But can one interact with your cargo, ie unload it? I am on the verge of committing but just looking for feedback, good or bad.

Is this going to be a free update to V1 owners of Run8? I don't see any mention of it on the website. I wonder if I can sell on my Run8 license key; I've not played with it very much and don't think I'll have time for it in the near future.

Leaf or Ice, since you own this sim, hows the interaction, if any, with your rolling stock at your start point and final destination?

I would really like to have to unload, er rather, de-couple in specfic lines, as well as have your cargo offloaded, like the coal cars and CONEXs.

I'll have to pass on that; like I said, I've only played it a few times, less than 5x IIRC, and it was mostly just running a route.

Understood Ice. Apologies, I think I misunderstood your earlier comment regarding this.

No worries. I've always liked train sims and even spent loads of time in TS20XX at one time. Just RL and BMS and Elite Dangerous plus a few other games take up most of my time now. Didn't want you to feel like I was ignoring your question biggrin

Sorry for the late reply, real-life stuff and all that. Interaction with the rolling stock has a bit of everything- coupling/decoupling, setting loads, hose and anglecocks for airbrakes, handbrakes, tagging. The detail is there if you want it. You can also auto-select stuff if you are in a hurry (limited play-time etc). When you do that kind if stuff would be dependent on what role you've decided on-- not so much needed on long hauling except maybe the odd defect (e.g., hot box) repair after passing a detector, but moreso at side industry servicing, or in the big yards and/or working the hump...sorting and making consists is something a few players thrive on. Hope that helps a bit!
