While Helios allows the creation of user templates, the templates are limited to:

One control, and its Properties!
This means that the user template, is a duplicate in appearance only! Bindings are not retained!

A better solution for building a cockpit is to save separate profiles for the controls you want to re-use. These controls if saved as a profile, will retain their bindings.

To utilize these profiles, simple open multiple versions of the profile editor and copy and paste between them.

Example:
One Profile editor contains a panel, say "left console" and the other profile editor contains your new profile. Select the entire control or panel (left console), by selecting the layers or drag the mouse over the entire collection of controls/objects, copy and paste them to the other profile editor with your new profile...instant panel, with bindings.

Sorry dude, but I don't understand why you find the need to make a topic for every little thing about Helios. Makes it hard to follow...

I merely wanted to clarify that while there are user templates, they have very limited functionality...no bindings. Bindings are more obscure, and time consuming to incorporate into a set of controls.

While for someone such as yourself these tutorials are brain dead, I'm attempting to appeal to people not IT or technically inclined.

Another reason I chose to do it this way, was because when I search for some obscure detail in SIM fora there are numerous threads spanning years of content, much of that content is no longer valid since the apps have evolved. I got tired of reading through pages of old info, because forum members wouldnt answer my questions!

Or those forum members have moved on... biggrin

I understand why you're posting, but there's no need to make ONE thread for EACH topic or idea that comes to mind. Plus you've been plugging these threads on other sub-forums or sites too. Again, nothing wrong with plugging, but would be easier for people to follow a few threads rather than several. After a while, it gets confusing which info was contained where or what discussion was done on which thread. Just my 2cents! Continue on....

biggrin
