Apologies for the title, needed to grab attention.
The topic at hand has now become a bitter clash of opinions at home.

You see, we recently purchased an apartment in Hong Kong and the Queen now wants to give up handjobs. It is her way of celebrating, and moving on. I personally disagree.
It works nicely, and although a little primitive, it has a proven track record.

Has any male SimHQer faced such dilemma ? How has it been ever after?
Should I concede and go full auto, or not ?



I actually don't mind giving a hand once in a while. I'll probably do it right after the full auto job, in front of the Queen, just to prove my point.

A Roomba does a good job but a small hand held vacuum is still useful.

I am just guessing at your question, btw.

Some say one should never use electronics or other aids over a good old hand job, but others are much more open to the possibilities.

Personally, I prefer a hummer on the hard planks over having the wooden shaft manipulated by hand.

Don't get one if you have puppies, kittens or small children if one wants to avoid poo being tracked all over the place.

There is no way I could consider an automatic vacuum cleaner. I'm gonna just come right out with it and offer up my man card now.I love vacuuming! Neither of my previous wives ever had to use ours,that was my thing (and to be honest they were more than happy to let me do it).

I have one for the garage,and 2 different ones for the flat plus loads of tool add-ons for various jobs.

Dart...lol.

Carpets need attention too.

The Roomba is nice, but IMO of limited value unless you have vast, open spaces in your apartment (e.g. chairs and desks suspended from the ceiling. This is the biggest issue, really. Every leg of a chair is an obstacle, Four-legged chairs, unless their legs are far apart or very narrow, are best removed from the floor before you let the Roomba lose. Once that you consider the preparatory work to get your living room "Roomba ready" (and later to put all things back into their place, the appeal of these robot diminishes substantially.

Other factors to consider:
If a Roomba is to effectively vacuum an entire apartment you will probably need to bring him into each room separately rather than letting it roam freely. Also, you'll replace the vacuuming duties with robot maintenance. Maintenance is physically less demanding and needs to be done less often than the actual vacuuming, but still.

We have had 3 successive versions of the Roomba for our house which has both tile and carpet. Avg lifespan of each one was around 2 years. If you have any dogs that shed hair the Roomba becomes less effective also.

As to doing those chores around the house that you refer to as, "handjobs" .... one day female androids will be able to accomplish nicely and with great homeowner satisfaction

Ah the freaking Roomba... the stuff dreams are made of. Mine would even have a name if Roomba wasn't good enough.

Fantastic little thing to have it working when you are not home. It helps with the upkeep, but of course you'll have to clean at some point, including the Roomba it self.

But man, getting home just to find your floor clean without having to do anything is happiness itself.

We have one, yet oddly it doesn't get used that much.

It's actually a lot older than this version.

Someone needs to watch Westworld and wonder if the Android version will develop superior nagging and scolding than our inferior fleshy version.

If the android somehow develops an advanced nagging and scolding reverie you can just reformat.

Just make sure that any residual memories don't remain.

Getting a replacement android to put the old storage disk into if they short out can be tough.

I typed out a response and I'll be damned if I'm finally getting smart enough not to post it.

Well, whatever the future holds (a fembot that can satisfy a *passionate* lover), it won't be in my lifetime.

If these fembots become "real" enough and are not super expensive I see the porn industry going under pretty quickly.
