I am thinking of getting WOFF since it seems active and development current.

Having said that, a few question. (honest answers if you please)

How is the AI in single player campaigns (random and challenging or predictable and has only a few good moves)

Is there multiplayer?

I noticed that in the WOFF website there is a product that says it has everything. (ultimate field edition)...doe I still need the CFS3 disk to start it up?

What time period of the air war in WW1 are covered? Does it start with the first use of Aircraft for reconnaissance mission in 1915 all the way to the end of war?

When playing a campaign, do you feel immersed in the campaign as it advances through missions. (i.e. missions advanced seems connected to historical and your mission success/failure events?

Are there missions where you go after Zeppelins or can you fly a mission as a Zeppelin pilot and try and bomb a target?

Are any of the campaign mission set in Turkey, Russia, or Italy.

Does this game run well with Win 8.1

Hi Jack72,

Single player campaigns are what WOFF is all about. The AI is pretty incredible actually. Sometimes you'll encounter novice opponents and then other times you'll be struggling against superior ones. Missions are generally "historic". Early in the war your flights are often only two craft whereas later in the war there are larger squadrons about. Historic battles occur, increasing air activity accordingly.

Yes there are zeppelin missions over London at the historic times. No missions in Turkey, Russia or Italy. Should be fine with Win 8.1

You will definitely not regret your purchase. The learning curve is pretty steep but plenty of good people here to help out... go ahead and jump in, the water's lovely smile

1. AI is the best! Random, challenging, and totally unpredictable. Truly, never the same thing twice.

2. The campaigns are the heart and soul of WOFFUE. You are 'in it', just survive, man, that's the tough part. And anytime you start a campaign it will be different from the last time, even if you do the same squadron. Also you can choose if you want all the 'Historical Aces' or just the 'high-end' ones. Big difference there.

3. No multiplayer.

4. Don't know about CFS3 anymore, it was so long ago when I started. Someone will know.

5. 1915-1918. BE2's and E1's through Sopwith Snipes and Fokker D8's.

6. Again the campaigns are the real deal to WOFFUE. Front lines move historically, you change airfields historically and on and on. Of course in WWI aircraft did relatively little in the 'big picture' of the conflict.

7. You may join squadrons based in England and challenge the Zeppelin and Gotha raids. But Zeppelins are not flyable and AI only.

8. Western front only.

9. Don't know about W8.1. I'm using W10 and it's excellent.

Oh yeah, great, very helpful forum here. Come on in and get shot down about a million times, you'll love it!

... and yes, early war through to the end. No multiplayer.

Done a clean install of WOFF UE recently and it didn't ask for the CFS3 disk. I would have to say the requirement is gone. Make sure you get the head tracking device such as TrackIR. If you've flown ROF then this is nothing like that. Forget easy 2-seater kills. First time I went after one of those since switching from ROF I was dead within 20 seconds and scratching my head what had just happened. Browse this forum and take a look at the excellent videos other members post to get an idea of what's it all about.

Couple of other things, you can choose fighter or recce/bomber squadrons. You can actually pick a squadron and exact date to enter. You can go to pilot training and randomly be sent where the 'higher ups' want you to go. Transfer to other squadrons, on and on and on, lots of details to enjoy. And again, you're asking the choir here, everybody on the forum is pretty much gung ho. S

This might give you a bit more insight regarding AI.

You can overall take a look into the features.

Did you also deinstall the CFS3 game? Because I think it still needs that game installed.

I never had CFS3 installed,in WoFF 3 it asked for the CD. But when I did a clean install of WoFF UE I wasn't asked to insert any CD.

WOFF UE no longer needs you to install CFS3 first.

if this is so, then this would be great news for all the Woff starters. For some buying the extra CFS3 game was also an obstacle, while on the other hand I have noticed that the CFS3 disc is become rare.

Yup, and cleaned the registry as well.

jack72, unless multiplayer is a "must-have" for you, this sim is worth whatever it takes to get it. for shear beauty you can't beat it; the skies are are as real as I've ever seen, and I'm sitting on 670,000 frequent flier miles now, minus the ones I've used over the years.

Plus the people here are the best, and the developers, as you've seen, are actually here. I hope you decide to join us!
