This is kind of a question out to the Devs and anyone else in design for these planes but anyone have stl/3D files for some of the interiors particularly Sopwith Pup and the Albatros DV? I know this is somewhat off subject to this forum as it doesn't apply directly to WOFF but I thought this would be a great place to ask especially since the same kind of software is used in developing 3D models for simulation!

I thoroughly enjoy WOFF and also build large 3rd and 4th scale versions of these planes to fly in my hobby. I recently received a 3D printer for an early Christmas present and am anxious to start printing interior for my planes! I'm learning the design software slowly but surely but may be awhile before I design my own interiors.
Thanks you

We don't release our models for 3rd party use usually if that's what you mean Link?

Thank you Polovski for your time and reply, I guess my self being a third party that would apply so I completely understand. Just for the record though I was only looking for the cockpits of the two planes nothing else especially the pup if that's the only one I can find.

I've searched in depth for accurate pictures other than just a couple of snap shots to model into the software I have. Nothing out there that will really work so finding 3D models of the cockpits is the perfect solution and is the only reason I asked. I've actually used screen shots from WOFF to scratch build off of for a lot of my planes but unfortunately they wont work for input into the 3D software.

3D printing is still pretty new to my community in this hobby and not a lot out there plus us old guys aren't very well versed when it comes to the complexities of complicated computer software designs. Its easier in my experience for guys like me to scratch built parts than design in a computer program! smile

Thank you and cheers

You guys do amazing work in all that you have designed and I have so enjoyed it since its very beginnings as I went from flying CFS3 to the first Flanders. This is my end goal and what I do for my hobby which is also therapeutic in nature after 4 combat tours in Iraq!

This is my 1/5 scale Nieuport 16 two years of building. A lot of ideas I got from your models and of course using photoshop can design fictional paint schemes before actually going into my scale plane. Weathering I do as I complete it.

Link, that is amazing. Does she fly as good as she looks?

Hi Banjoman, Thank you for the compliment! She is very scale down to every rib and former with same airfoil as the original in a small package 62" wing span. I had to compromise adding weight to add all the scale so it effects how it flies as much as weight would to the real one. That being said very advanced flying skills are required to fly it and can be tricky in wind, its all about flying with the rudder. I chose to get into 3rd scale which my Sopwith Pup is at 108" ws for the bigger airframe which flies so much better and you can keep the original true scale lines of the real plane with tons of detail!

LINK, good luck with all that! What a beautiful model. Man, I would be afraid to take that baby up, wouldn't want to 'prang' it. Damn nice. S

Link,
You can try this place: Sopwith Pup 3D model

It ain't cheap, but they're having black Friday sale right now and they offer free file format conversion, so hopefully it should work with your 3D printer. You can also try and ask if they'd be willing to sell just the cockpit, if that's what you need. Good luck!

SteveW, Thank you and yes I do get nervous taking it up and this particular one I do very little, my bigger ones are my go to flyers!

Fullofit, going to check out the sight now see what they got! Thank you very much for the link!

That is literally a work of art, sir. Anyone would be proud to be able to display such craftsmanship, let alone know that it was flyable, too. I don't think I would have the stomach to take her up though, given all the hours that must have gone into building her. Well done.

Cheers man. That's a piece of art. You are probably one of those artisan which are midway between a gifted artist and an archeologist.

Incredible work.

Again thank you guys for the compliments! I enjoy the hobby and love to put a lot of detail into planes, as much as I can and as close as I can to the real planes.

Hellshade as you stated having the stomach to fly it some days I take some to the field and if I'm not completely focused and have a good feeling they will be grounded for that day. It can be nerve racking to fly them especially the really detailed ones I've put so much time into. But when its the perfect day and everything feels just right and you have a good flight with your prize model nothing feels more awesome, it makes the time you spend building them that much more enjoyable.
