Insurgent Truck Bridge Attack along the Bzipi River in the Mountains of North West Abkhazia

An assembly area for insurgent trucks has been reported at this location:
<click here>

With only some possible BRDMs as protection, the main risk will probably be the terrain - mountainous and deep valleys...

Mission Brief - take off from Sochi - summer time and very nice weather...

Ramp start in the HAS:

Traffic taxiing on the ramp at Sochi - looks pretty empty after the Winter Olympics:

Mig-29A CAP:

Monitoring engine RPM and gauges during startup:

Taxiing with quite a heavy weapons load to runway 20:

Waiting for traffic - an An-30M cleared onto the runway before me:

An-30M spooling up:

An-30M rotating and take off:

The pilot is sporting a Magnum PI style for Movember:

Cleared onto runway 20:

Spooling up:

Wheel brakes released:

Rotating at 250 kph:

Take off:

Retracting gear:

Egress over downtown Adler:

Over the Black Sea and turning towards WP1:

Mig-29A turning towards final:

Mig-27K take off with full burner runway 20:

Turning towards the east and over Sochi International:

Autopilot route following engaged:

SPO-15 Beryoza picking up friendly radars:

Examining weapons load on the way to WP1:

Inboard pylon:
RBK-500 PTAB 10.5 - Cluster bomb unit with 30x 10kg antitank bomblets

Next pylon:
9K121 Vikhr - Antitank laser beam riding missiles

Next pylon:
RBK-500 PTAB 1M - Cluster bomb unit with 352x 1kg antitank bomblets

Outer pylon:
4x FAB-100 GP freefall bombs on a MER (multiple ejector rack)

More of the AAR to follow soon....

Ingress into the Bzipi River valley where the target area should be...

Scanning the valley with the Shkval electro-optical targeting system:

Target area located - the truck assembly area at near the bridge...

Slewing the Shkval electro-optical targeting system picks up an armoured vehicle:

Looks like a BRDM:

9K121 Vikhr - Antitank laser beam riding missiles selected and maneuvering to align the Vikhr reticle over the laser designated target in the HUD:

Target aligned, locked, and designated with the laser:

Missile away! 9K121 Vikhr first stage motor ignites and the missile leaves the pod:

View of missile through HUD:

Ground targets still have not detected the attack:

9K121 Vikhr second stage motor kicks in and initiates the missiles signature corkscrew flight:

View of missile screwing towards target through Shkval EO screen:

Cockpit view of the initial missile attack:

Motors have cut out and missile in terminal guidance:

Targets still have no visual on me and remain unaware:

Whack! Hit on target - one BRDM destroyed:

Missile hit:

Impact viewed through the Shkval:

Impact seen through HUD:

Secondary explosions:

Smoking BRDM wreck:

Slewing to the next target on the same approach, this time I'm closer so need to work the optics quicker... It's one of the trucks maneuvering back across the bridge:

Locked, lased and in the process of aligning Vikhr reticle:

Missile #2 away! [I liked this shot so much I had to take it from all angles... wave2 ]

Meanwhile...

The first BRDM still smoking:

And the second one starts crapping itself and tries to do a runner:

The second Vikhr's 1st stage motor sends it towards the second target:

However the vehicle's commander gives his driver a kick in the ass, orders him to turn towards the threat and gets his gunner to start putting up some fire:

The missile continues inbound - second stage motor ignited:

Looks like there is a traffic jam on the bridge and panic...

The Vikhr rides the laser beam all the way to the target even while it's moving:

Whack again! The fleeing truck inhales a Vikhr...

Egress with tracer coming up at me. Popping flares in case some brave dude tries a Strela shot... Successful first pass.

Meanwhile the first BRDM still smokes...

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet.
I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.
