New member here so I have some questions please and this one is about using TrackIR 5 with WOFF UE.

I can run WOFF UE on my i7-920 overclocked to 4 Ghz and my GTX 970 at around 60 fps with occasional dips down to the 40's if flying at very low altitude so frame rates are not really an issue. AA in nVidia Inspector is set to 8xS with SGSS 2x turned on as well and also with 16x AF.

I am using Lou's "WOFF 2" TrackIR profile which I found through a web search and it seems to work well with a Speed setting of 1 and a Smooth setting of 20.

But when I use my TrackIR 5 with the hat clip, I get some major stutters when looking around especially as I near the front lines. Using the Spot view, it's super smooth as I rotate around. But when I look around in the cockpit using TrackIR, I sometimes get some major stutters and it's quite continuous. Tried different Speed and Smooth settings to no avail.

Used Lou's profile in Rise of Flight and it's super smooth to look around with lower frame rates(in the 30's) in that game so my TrackIR is working fine.

Anyone have any stutter issues with TrackIR and WOFF?

Thanks.

I get stutters usually on initial loading, but thereafter it's generally smooth.
My main problem is that trackir will suddenly lock and stop me from looking around the cockpit, even though I have still got two green LED's on... frustrating frown

I am using the 'default' profile, speed=1 and smoothing=25. I have no stutters, other than the first few seconds on the mission, per normal.

Strange that you only get the problem when in the cockpit. I wonder if something regarding the cockpit graphics that sets it off?

Yes, I do. But I suspect it is probably due to hw limitation of my rig. It looks like some bottle neck due to low speed of data transfer between MoBo/processor and graphics card or on card itself. When you in cockpit and look around, graphic card has to be fed with new data and the faster you turn, the more data you must send to card. Taht is also reason of stutters on mission start - processor must fill graphic card with all initial graphic data around you plane.
My PC specs: AMD HD7870, Intel i5 3.1GHz,16GB RAM, Win 7 64.

Maybe something is overloaded, make sure you have "Override any application settings" for AA settings (that's what NVidia calls it, not sure what AMD /ATI is called). Also as per the FAQ if you overclock too far you may get more stutters memory timings increase etc to compensate and WOFF uses CPU more heavily generally. i7 920 is a 2.6Ghz CPU? 4Ghz is a huge overclock.
Try with CPU and memory set to normal speed just to test for example.

I tweaked some of my nVidia settings for the GTX 970 and TrackIR seems a lot better now with WOFF UE. I did have override set for AA. But after more tweaks, the stuttering is almost gone. I'll keep on tweaking.

Many thanks for the replies.

My trackir stopped working in the middle of a flight too. Did anyone ever find a fix for that?

One of the things about using Sparse Grid Supersampling to reduce shimmering is that it needs to be paired with the right Multisampling setting, so the pixel locations being processed exactly match during the calculations or it degrades the image quality.
2x MSAA with 2x SGSSAa, 4x MSAA with 4x SGSSAA, or 8x MSAA with 8x SGSSAA.

I find that the 4x combination is adequate without too much of a FPS hit on my GTX 980.

Your profile will have a pause key, and if you hit it by accident then TrackIR will freeze. Check which key is your pause key and then see if that might be the problem. (Its a toggle so pressing the key again will umpause TrackIR)

It's not disabled, but kind of 'locked'. Kind of like it wants to move but being kept in place. Weird.

I know what my trackir pause key is set to and know how it works, I never touch it and have never accidently turned it on by accident.
My trackir will simply lock in the forward position on occasion and I can no longer look to the side. I usually have to end the mission and restart over again to get the thing to work again.

for me, I think its just the old game itself.

In CLOD, IL2 and ROF I never get stutters with my IR5. With WOFF its ok but needs a little getting used to it, then after I don't really notice it too much.
