Way over in Perth, Western Aus...
My first successful HOJ launch against a Su-24MP ('Fencer-F') in the stand-off jammer role...

Su-24MP jamming detected on the AA radar page in top "dugout" area:

Aim-7MH HOJ mode HUD symbology:

Confirmed range with AWACS and then Fox 1!

AIM-7MH HOJ in flight:

AIM-7MH detonates:

Su-24MP on fire and destroyed...

The moon and HUD...

Land of the Morning Calm
Great stuff! Still love the "on top of the world" feeling it has, with the moon setting it just right.

I always thought the immersion of this game was fantastic (night carrier trap in a storm, with lots of air traffic control messages from ship and AWACS) for it's day and ironically, still holds much of that immersion over newer sims. I would sell all that I hold dear, almost, to see this sim updated. Jane's really set the bar back in the 90's.

+1

Those night carrier trap in a storm were not only fantastic, immersive but also scary as hell!!

The only thing worse or scarier than carrier trap in a storm in Jane's F/A-18 is a carrier trap in a storm with fog in Jane's F/A-18 (yes, that was possible!).

I have to agree, even though the graphics are dated, the immersion is unbeatable, nothing that makes you grit your teeth, grip your HOTAS, and sweat as much as those carrier traps...! And the avionics are very in depth too...

strykerpsg - I agree too - although TSH did an excellent job with what they had, if only the source code was available and this sim had been community modded and updated just like Falcon 4.......
