Brings back memories of the 1991 Halloween Blizzard. Oh no, not again. Last time I watched the REAL movie. Yep, you were right, no soul. What Happened to Rocky ?
Back in the 70's, we *lived* the movie, at the theatre with lighters, squirt guns, news paper, and no neck

The movie has become now a cult classic by any standard. Many cities have weekly or daily showings in small venues. The main attraction is that the audience is encouraged to participate and dress up as the characters.
I think the Fox version was inspired on the live show that was done in London last year which, in my opinion, was way better than last night's. The guy playing Frank N. Further does a great job at channeling Tim Curry (which as great as it was to see again on stage last night, was a bit sad too).
WARNING: Adult language (especially from the audience hecklers) -

A "Rocky Horror" date to me was an attempt by a naive 17 year-old to try and get another 17 year-old to loosen up a little, to not be so rigid. Didn't work as I had hoped (got interesting only after the ring ) but surprisingly, she enjoyed the movie anyway (or maybe more the experience, just a group of friends being silly at midnight) and the soundtrack has always been one of our favorites.
We'll be seeing it in a theater next Friday night, for the first time in over 30 years... "Oh, Rocky!"
I knew about this new one, just wasn't interested in watching it.

Not a huge fan of the original, and I'd expect that a remake would be extremely meh.
Either you try to match it faithfully, in which case it won't work because the original is as much a product of the actors as it is the script,
or
You try to "update it" with a modern interpretation, which misses the whole damned point of the original and the audience "participation."
Cult classic films are not fertile grounds for remakes....one could never replicate the magic of They Live, for example.
It really was lighting in a bottle. Even the people who made the original movie failed in their attempt to follow it up. They made a movie called "Shock Treatment" where they built in gaps in the dialog to allow for people to say the lines, and of course no one did. It has to be organic, and when it's not, it will fail.

1984/85...I probably saw "Rocky Horror" no more than about 10 times (always on a Fri. night at midnight [technically Sat. morning], all at 17 [except night of my 18th BD, although I arrived and bought the ticket at 17]).
I never dressed in a character.
I never shouted vulgarities at the screen nor was I ever intoxicated when I was with the girlfriend.
Next Fri. night will be no exception (no drinking, no swearing). Like I'd really remember what to scream. Well, some of it I do. EDIT: I'd rather keep it nostalgic and be on my best behavior.
Yup, no drinking at all, not enough time.
But I will do the props (the ones that haven't been banned).
