Darwin's going to catch up to him sooner or later. He didn't clear that walkway by much.

I would have laughed if he'd tripped over that pipe and just tumbled off.

I think adrenaline junkies need to be locked up in rehab until they're fixed.

My son has a rod in his right femur from jumping into a quarry and missing the sweet spot only the locals knew about. He watched them having fun and did it himself to overcome his fear. OCD gives folks distorted priorities.

Revisiting the video a few days later...

It's not terrible clever, but I wonder: What is it really that makes us react in such a negative way? I mean if the guy choses to kill himself accidently (or on purpose...) what does it change in our own lives?

I think it's just seeing someone do something so obviously dangerous that you question their ability to make good decisions, and how that may affect other things.

There is also the aspect of how it actually could impact other people's lives. A friend of a friend jumped into the Pacific ocean off a cliff, missed the right spot and hit a shallow area, and became a quadriplegic as a teenager. After that, he required a great deal of care, friends and loved ones had to see that he wasn't going to be able to do the things he had wanted to, and the cost of the care was so high the money had to come from other people. All because of one poorly thought out decision.

Thanks Ken, that's a good argument. I was thinking it's his decision to off himself or not, but you are right that anything affecting other people's lifes so long-term isn't cool.

Locally there is a spot that people do maybe 30 foot jumps off of and there is a rope swing for 15' jumps. Long story short. someone took a few road signs and sunk them in the water where the people jump. First few people missed the signs then someone hit them lost half a leg and an entire arm.

I've done a few jumps myself but only after swimming the landing zone and trolling it with a rope to make sure it doesnt snag on anything sticking up.
