Welcome, and I'm glad you like it. I moved here from ROF two years ago and haven't run another sim of any kind since. It's absolutely addictive if you're a history nut.

What have you experienced, Parachuteprone? What squadron are you in? What plane do you fly? What's it like out on patrol for you?

I'm in No 1 sqd - Morane Parasol - 1915.(Love early stuff) On my 4th mission. Have yet to see an enemy machine and am loving it.
I'm waiting for a transfer to come through so I can try the BE2c

Coming from ROF I expected the graphics not to be as good but Wow!
I find the clouds and ground detail way more realistic in WOFF.
The planes are great and I can tell I've barely scratched the surface. We even have cows
In one install I have most of the aircraft I've ever wanted.

Actually I got a couple of hours. Light sleeper anyway but the main reason I am about is to check on my UE download and....yes it was done without a hitch. Whew. Big downloads off a satellite are always dicey.

Yea I am really not stupid nor a bad speller or bad in grammar.
I do almost all my forum stuff on my phone (I6) anymore.
Between the auto "correct" and my old eyes stuff does happen!

Duke, maybe you can finally join us over in the Centenary DID.

You know I keep saying I am but it never seems to happen.
Checking all my personal mods for UE compatability, and making them so if not, then I'll head over to the thread and see what's up.

Some of us are in June '16 and the others are in October '16. There is still plenty of time to fly and get killed and we would love to have you.

Love the sim being with it from the beging my only grip is the train rail lines they go off at all angles hope this can be sorted in the future.

This looks like the right thread to quickly comment on WOFF UE. I am delighted to say that I have UE up and running on my system - all thanks to Sandbagger for gifting me a copy!

I haven't had nearly enough time to dive into the sim (who has?!) but all I can say so far is that UE really is the Ultimate Edition. I'm astounded at two noticeable changes: First: The upgrade to the graphics are significant. The two screenshots below really highlight the upgrades to the aircraft textures, OvS's marvelous repaint of the Albatros series, and the improved shaders:

The texturing on the aircraft is massively improved and the shaders really seem to highlight what's metal and what's canvas now. It looks spectacular, even on my modest system.

Second: The frame rate! I haven't seen the massive improvement some were mentioning, but it is a dramatic upgrade from where I was before. I can now hold nearly consistent 60fps. I've dialed in my nvidia settings and now use Fast v-sync with 4 pre-rendered frames which really smooths out the experience. Dogfights, even with large numbers, now renders quite nicely and with minimum pauses and no stutters to report.

The improvements really are in the details: the immersion really has jumped significantly from WOFF 2, which is the version I upgraded from. Sound design is noticeably better. The cockpits look even more convincing. The landscape renders beautifully and I find I'm often distracted by just how real everything looks now. The high-res aircraft textures combined with damage makes for incredibly life-like dogfights.

It's all fantastic! I'll write up a more in-depth reaction to the sim over the next few days (hopefully!). In the meantime, enjoy the sim whenever you can! I'll be signing up with a DiD pilot shortly!

Wow Soppy, that is great news! WOFF UE is a great upgrade, especially for more moderate GPU owners. The new shaders aren't just better looking, they are more efficient too and better FPS seems to be the common experience. Hats off to AnKor for upping the magic even more. Lots of other improvements as others have noted too. It's much more of an upgrade from WOFF 2 & 3 than most folks realize just by looking at the features listing. The experience is just all around better. A big salute to Sandbagger as well. A scholar and a gentleman for his generosity. I salute you, kind sir.

Would you please elaborate on how you distinguish between what you describe as "pauses" and "stutters"?
