Hi all,

I've been meaning to post some pics from Warbirds Downunder, Temora, Australia, last year (has it really been that long!?). I hadn't seen many of these aircraft flying before so this was a real treat. Enjoy some Southern weather

... 40 odd degrees C the day before the show ... cowboy ... a Kiwi's not used to that heat! Probably the furthest I've ever been from the sea!

Near the front gate, a Ozzie CAC Sabre and a Canberra

A couple of FA-18s

Sabre and Meteor. Only the Sabre displayed unfortunately.

Winjeels

Cessna Skymaster

BT-13

CAC Wirraway

Lockheed Hudson ... lovely to see and hear this flying.

Merlin engined P40 ... another treat.

The Boomerang ... Aussie designed and built front line fighter ... sounded amazing!

Black cat

And one for the VW fans ... an immaculate Kublewagon.

I was actually there in 2009 for the first flight of the Sabre post restoration. Used to go down every few months for the weekend flying displays. I think I have the pics somewhere on a hard drive. Camera & lens is pretty average (old Canon EOS 1000 and a 300mm zoom) but occasionally I get some ok shots (well I like them anyway) at times of flybys. If someone is interested I will see if I can find them. They aren't near as good as some of the other shots around here though.

Esquire, what a great collection of rare / unique aircraft. Looks like you had a great day! Thanks for sharing thumbsup

The Winjeel trainer looks very similar to the Percival Provost used by the RAF - is that just coincidence or did one design influence the other?

Esquire thanks for posting the images, you've reminded me that I've still got to work through my shots (where did the year go!).

Thanks folks ...

Stonehouse I was surprised at the range of aircraft there ... a great show.

FlatEric, They definitely appear similar. I don't know much about either aircraft, but Wiki refers to each design as similar but manufactured seperately ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAC_Winjeel & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percival_Provost .

SC/JG_Oesau, would be great to see some of your shots, with the new season's airshows approaching fast and another set of shots to get!

Cheers Esq.

Have done a quick run through - can't believe it's nearly been a year as I remember the show well. Temora airshows are always a challenge with display photography as you face Western towards the sun...

What a superb collection and great shots! I particularly like the one of the Hellcat (if that is what it is); looks as if the unaware pilot is about to be strafed from his 7 o'clock!

Yes I like that one too for that very reason - BTW it's an Avenger, there's no Hellcats down this part of the world (really wish there was).

Nice shots SC/JG_Oesau. I remember the Mustang starting up ... took ages turning it over, puffing and popping and those flames pouring out until it finally fired and the crowd cheered! I'd just given up filming him when it fired! Entertaining moment.

Cheers Esq.
