Atlantic Fleet... just messing around with it at the moment. It's been out for awhile, but for an amazingly very low cost, I have to admit I'm having an immense amount of fun!

It's extremely easy to use, with good graphics with a simple control interface even I could understand smile

Here is just a quick sample from one of the training missions.

Swordfish on deck, readied and waiting for take off orders. (ship in the distance damaged, but needs to be sunk)

Ordered to launch, the Swordfish take off.

Seafires launched as fighter cover in case the Luftwaffe turn up.

The Swordfish have gone in and the German transport is sunk.

An escort, HMS Afridi is close by.

For very little cash outlay, I can't understand why on earth I didn't get it sooner.
It consists of the following:

1. There are several training missions to get your feet wet.

2. Single missions, 30 in all with varying amounts of ships and problems to overcome. All the missions are historical and are set throughout the Atlantic theatre... you can also set up your own custom missions within the single mission settings.

3. Campaign...Campaigns are a series of 50 missions increasing in difficulty and are saved separately for each navy.

4. Battle of the Atlantic dynamic campaign... Turn-based tactical and strategic simulation of the tonnage war that was the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II. Your goal is to protect (or destroy) merchant shipping as it brings valuable war materials to Britain across the Atlantic. Unlike the regular Campaigns, the Battle of the Atlantic is fully dynamic and evolves over time into a very unique experience. Be prepared to think, be adaptable and make sacrifices to keep the war in your favour.

Throughout the campaigns you earn 'Renown' which will enable you enhance your fleet with more warships.

This game has only cost me a little under £7... total bargain, a little gem biggrin

Yes, really good fun...

I'm already several missions into the campaign and my small fleet is growing.

Here is my latest acquisition, HMS Trooper would you believe (a T-class submarine, I couldn't believe it when I saw it's name, lol!)
Travelling at periscope depth after sinking a destroyer and a merchant ship.

The campaign continues... I take on two German destroyers escorting a German merchantman, with two of my own plus the trusty HMS Trooper, the T-class sub.
The Trooper sinks one of the destroyers but immediately comes under fire from the other, however I was amazed when four torpedo's come screaming my way and I have to crash dive!

Behind the Trooper was HMS Gurkha who was racing up in support. Luckily, I managed to do a hard turn to starboard and thread my way through...

The remaining destroyer was eventually set afire and sunk with the Gurkha and Affridi catching and sinking the merchant ship... mission complete!

Incidentally, the real HMS Trooper disappeared with all hands in the Med in 1943, probably lost to a mine... all the Group 2 type T's were sent to the Med theatre and only two returned... quite a sombre thought when I sit here playing a 'game'...

How is the action interface handled? Is it an RTS or turn-based strategy game?

It's all turn based, but I like that kind of game play smile
Action interface is handled through clicking on various parts of the screen controls or use of key strokes... it's very simple and easy.
That interface can be removed off screen by the F9 key, for taking video and screenshots.

No MP either, but I prefer SP anyway...

I picked it up and it is a beautiful looking game, mechanics are different but because the ships are so damn pretty I like having the time to look at them all close up.

I'm checking out other titles by the developers now.

Their latest is 'Cold Waters', a cold war naval game... looks quite good.

They have also mentioned they might return to the WWII Pacific Fleet side of things at some stage smile

Not really my kind of thing, but recommended it to a mate. He has given it a massive thumbs up, so might give it a whirl. Thanks Trooper for the heads up.

Glad to be of help smile

My enjoyment continues... Just played a great mission with British T class subs taking on a convoy of three large German merchant ships with three destroyer escorts.
I managed to sink the lot. HMS Trooper lured the escorts away while HMS Tally-Ho took on the transports.
Fire a torpedo, dive and change direction, back to periscope depth, pick another target, rinse and repeat, dodging the destroyers, engines all stop for a couple of turns... real cat and mouse stuff!

Hide and seek...

This is the PC version... It's nothing as complex as Silent Hunter for example, but it requires tactics and strategy, but very easy to pick up and learn...

The Triton, Trooper and Tally-Ho are stalking two German Light Cruisers the Karlsruhe and Konigsberg.
We move in at periscope depth, resisting the temptation to fire torpedo's too early.
Finally we are in range...

The first to be hit is the Karlsruhe, listing over to port before being struck again, heavily damaged and afire, she goes down.

Next, the Konigsberg is hit by HMS Trooper with a broadside of three torpedo's on her starboard side, she erupts as the magazine explodes...

Played this on an Android tablet. It's great fun and the graphics are surprisingly good for a mobile app. Didn't know they had a PC version... this screenshots look great!
