I have very little respect for a whole lot of NFL players. They range from ignorant clowns to literal murderers and felons. It's sad that the good family guys seem to be an exception.
Regardless, they're entertainers. Like actors, as long as they STFU, eat their millions, and dance for the masses it works out.

To be fair, they take a lot of physical punishment. It's not like they're complaining about long commutes, bad snacks in the break room, or raises being late.
Still, you should be able to quit after a couple of years and between the salary and milking the endorsements be set for life. If you can't live well your entire life on $10 million, you are an idiot.

To be fair, they take a lot of physical punishment.
So do members of the military, construction workers and oil rig workers but they do it at a tiny fraction of the salary that this bozo makes.

I fail to see why you should be allowed to be injured in return for an inflated salary.
I bet if you go and beat up the CEO of Wells Fargo he won't say "well, it's ok because I make a lot of money."

Because if you choose to be a professional football player you should know that injury comes with the job?

it comes to taking care of the players who are laying their bodies on the line every Sunday As opposed to people who lay their lives on the line every day? As opposed to people who put their health at risk every shift?

Capitalism in action. People will pay a lot of money to watch these guys play, so these guys get paid lots of money to play. Not the point of this at all. Yes, they deserve the money they get because of the people willing to pay to see them play. Free market in action. But when they then WHINE about getting hurt while doing it is another thing entirely. At what point did this NFL player suddenly realize that playing football might lead to injury? If the money isn't enough to compensate for the physical toll, stop playing instead of complaining about it.

With that train of logic, quit trying to improve your workplace, coal miners should have STFU and kept mining coal and to heck with dieing from black lung. While I am sick of hearing them whine about a lot of things attempting to improve their workplace safety is not one of them. In the long run keeping players in the game, especially premier players, is the best things for both sides when it comes to the game moving forward. Wheels

You're really going to compare a multi-million dollar a year contract NFL player to a coal miner?

Risk/compensation is a factor in many occupations. Few come out better in that equation than NFL players.

When a huge part of the job description is "run fast, hit hard, get up, repeat" I don't get the complaints about the job when the pay is that much.
Do coaches and owners really care about minor injuries that don't take too much out of performance and keep players in the game in order to win? Shocker: no, no they do not care - they want to win. Throw some superglue into that cut and get back out there. At the Professional level of football with literally Billions of USD on the line one does not get people very interested in handing out participation ribbons and ensuring that one's okay without a visit to a designated Safe Space.
Even more shocking, great players hide their injuries and keep playing just to keep playing. Nobody worth a bonus ever said "take me out, coach, I may not be one hundred percent."
It's rather like rodeo clowns complaining that the Event Organizers don't seem to care too much that they're getting pushed around by bulls, broncs, and even the cowboys they're out to protect, just so long as they get the job done.
[edit]
Not really feeling the love for the Seahawks anyway. Without getting this pushed out of this forum, the whole team - every player - has elected to "make a stand" against the National Anthem and the American flag as a sign of "unity."

Lol they are not coal miners by a long shot. They fully know the risks and do it for the love of the game and the love of mountains and mountains and mountains of cash. If he doesn't like it he can indeed STFU and go home, we're pretty much at the pinnacle of safety in the NFL short of banning it outright.
All I hear from the Seahawks this year is "waaaah waaaaah". Dart's right, there's better teams to root for.

You know what?
That's how I feel about football fans.
Every time someone comes into work feeling happy/sad because their team won/lost, I want to punch them in the mouth. If your emotions are affected by something so trivial, just lie in the corner and drool.
It's a stupid game and watching it is an even larger waste of time. So none of those players should be paid a penny and no one should be watching it at all. No one watches, no money comes in, no players are paid, no one gets injured, zero complaints.
If you watch it, YOU are the source of the problem.
