Very cool but I guess I need to record it to be louder. It's hard to hear the pilot at all.

Maybe you could try to post-process your audio files in some audio editing application and increase volume.
Would you, pls, then save the files in *.wav format? Otherwise I must convert them.
I did try also your other audio files and connect them randomly to bullet_hit events, although with mixed results. In case your aircraft has received many hits, the audio with cursing overlayed - two or three files played simultaneously, so, it is unrealistic. I must look for another trigger event yet.

I played a little bit with Hellshade's audio recordings, increased amplitude and reduced noise.
Here is the second test: Pilot audio

Argh. I need to re-record this stuff but I'm working crazy hours for the next two weeks. Not a single day off until the 28th.

I wouldn't mind a mod that, when you look down into your cockpit, you would see an arm on the stick, a hand that moves with the throttle and partial legs with feet on the rudder pedals.

Yep, that would be nice, but that is out of my (programming) scope. That is job for 3D Modellers, however, since 3D models are locked and not available for moddidng (in *.m3d format), it is quite impossible to do that without support of developers (without access to GMax source files). You can ask Pol about this possibility, but I suppose he is busy enough with WOFF UE and other project(s).

How about some swear words in french, german and english (as appropriate to the pilots nationality) that get spouted off whenever your plane takes damage? LOL Even just the beginning of swear words like "Son of a ----", "Mother---", "God ----"

I actually think I'd laugh my arse off if my virtual pilot swore every now and then when his plane took damage. Now THAT would be some immersion!

If you edit the 'news',(OBDSoftware/WOFF/OBDWW1 Over Flanders Field/Campaigns/Campaign Data/News) you can do your own. I joined RNAS 6 in Oct. 1916. My first kill was on the 25th. The next newspaper article was on the 26th. I edited the Title of the article, and wrote a brief description of my victory. For the pic, I took my pilot pic, Pilot1, changed it to a .jpeg, put it in (OBDSoftware/WOFF/OBDWW1 Over Flanders Field/Campaigns/Campaign Data/News/pictures) and edited it in.

A real pilot would see his body in the cockpit if he looks down, and the lack of that is one of the few 'unrealistic' things about WOFF right now, although we generally have little trouble imagining our way around it.

Several years ago the developers started putting bodies in the planes and believe it or not many people complained that they didn't like it. It wasn't what people were 'used to' from other sims. And consequently "stupid" won out over "realism" (or at least that was my impression at the time ... there might be more to it than I know).

The whole problem using human body parts is that, it should be good or be skipped. A view like your seeing Fred Flintstone as an pilot, both in movement and (comicbook) looks, is for me just a waste of design effort and precious CPU power. Think that effort could better spend to something usefull.

We used to have it there, I quite like the figure there - but it is split roughly 50/50 on those that dislike them and those that want them.

Maybe one day we'll make some more. But one problem is you can look around more than a human can, given Trackir has controls to change how much your head moves for example, so you can look straight down and notice you have no head wink
It is also a royal pain in the bum to animate to use the controls all in different locations in each craft, and now we have 75+ aircraft cough..

I'm in the 50% that doesn't want to see my cartoon self. I can't make the transition mentally...there is someone else in the cockpit, running the gun, whatever I see myself doing, someone else is doing it instead, and they're in the way! Get out of my cockpit! hahaha

I love seeing other crew members, but not me smile2

P.S. Now, from external view, I must see my cartoon self (come to think of it). I hate an empty plane from external view. I got to where I wouldn't fly an FS9 plane if there was no pilot from external view.

So I guess I want my cake, and eat it too! (I've never completely understood than expression...lol)

The point of a mod is this; only those who want it would download it. As for it looking like a cartoon, nothing else on the aircraft looks that way, why should the 'mod' look any different?

I was using the term "cartoon self" affectionately smile

And I agree, the more mods the merrier!

It won't happen anyway, just too much to work out. As mentioned earlier, it would have to be done for each flyable plane in WOFF, including two-seaters, as well as showing the different flying suits of each of the four nations in the game.

It was just a thought. Maybe not a good one, but a thought nonetheless.

still mod requesting going on?
As I would. like to se an mod that would make the gunner on a 2seater more offencieve, right now the gunner is acting pure defencive, as in most of the case it only shoots when a enemy plane is at your tail or it shoots only when it is to late. As a sample right now if flying an MS-parasol, the gunner only starts shooting at an Aviatek B1 when this German plane is behind your tail. I would like to see that the gunner is more agressive, so when passing the Aviatek he shoots direct and you do not have to manoeuvre the MS parasol in front of the Aviatek.
Hmmm little difficult to explain, so here another sample, when flying the Fee, you make a turn to the Fokker E and you are now on his tail, after the turn the gunner have to shoot at the Fokker like in real life and not wait until the Fokker is at the Fee tail. Same as the Fokker is flying towards the Fee, the gunner does have an clear shot, but you will see when using external view he is hasitating between the rear and front gun and will loose time to shoot at the Fokker.
In WW1, The Fee and MS-parasol where also used for offencive actions so there is no need for an pure defensive programmed gunner.

That would be really very good mod, indeed. As a Fee fan, I would like to have it either, but, if it is possible, I am sure the devs would be the first to make it. IMHO, it is hard coded in CFS3 core executable and not so easy to modify wthout access to source code. But I would like to be wrong. Any idea how to do it?

JJJ65,

From my understanding of what's been said here, there isn't much from the modding end that will change/add to the WOFF.exe interface. Is that correct?

Cheers,

Jenks

Alternatively,
I'd love to help out in the historical aerodrome locations movement that Lou & Others are involved in.
Just need to get set up on the software.

When I'm not flight leader, I would prefer my flight leader not follow the 2-seaters so closely during escort missions. If there is a way to mod the distance and altitude at which we follow on escort missions, that would be a great mod.

This is probably not historically accurate, but I would like to adjust these two values for my viewing pleasure when watching my flight from Spot View on long missions while on autopilot.

Thanks!
