I'm a little shocked.

I started my career in some elite german marine Staffel, Theo Osterkamp squadron. Equipped with Halberstadt DII, then gradually replaced with (early) Albatros DIII.

Withing 40 days the staffel lost 50% of effectives. Most in combat, 2 shot down by ground fire on balloon attack, then 3 died after the Albatros arrived with engine burst in flame. It happened to me too, smoke and failure, but I had just lift off so I was able to land immediatly.

I claimed few kills, only one was accepted. Also, the "worst" part, is that I met only once a two-seaters patrol (flanders region), and a De Havilland or a Fe2b which chased (!) me along with one of his escort single seat.

All the clashes were with single seat EA, either facing them attacking our aerodromes or meeting some enemy wing while patrolling. Where the heck are the two seaters?

And also, is that casualty stat normal?

High over the Front
Hehe. If you would search the forums (if the SimHQ search function was any good) you would find a thread, by myself, with almost exactly the same title.

In any case, due to many factors, casualties in the WOFF campaign mode, can reflect quite a bit higher then historically.

Bloody April for the Allies for certain. I don't think I've played the German side during Bloody April, but for the Allies - it feels damn near hopeless up there.

Nothing is forced, we put things in place and you and the AI make the decisions. it will vary across the front, depending on your squads rating and other factors too - numbers of enemy fields nearby - their rating etc. So whilst certain areas locally may vary the overall feeling is as Hellshade has it for the allies wink
