Speaking of state fairs, I heard this while listening to NPR the other day. This might have perked up that couple in the picture.

The Oregon State fair held it's first pot growers agricultural exhibit. No samples, but the crops were judged. They didn't let them set up with the normal horticulture exhibits, put them in the commercial exhibits area. Oregon legalized recreational marijuana in the last year or two, and this was a first for any state fair.

Looks like he is missing the big game. He can't believe he paid $20 to park. Another $20 for a couple of nasty corn dogs and two cokes. He is realizing how much he hates crowds, and the night is just beginning. It's all part of the "work" you have to put in.

Looks like a bad first date to me.

I'm glad when my wife and I were dating cell phones were too expensive to use for anything but necessity and you couldn't do anything but talk on them.

We see this in restaurants all the time, except they *both* have their heads in a screen! So the way I see it, this guy should have his own phone so he won't be bored!

Seriously, I appreciate that my wife keeps an iPhone on her because I don't drag my old flip phone around unless I'm out by myself, which is hardly never. So we have a phone if we need it, sometimes I even use the camera if I'm at a concert or something. Otherwise, we're both old fashioned (you *talk* to each other at a table / on a date) so it should never become a problem.

She's reading email and has just said:

"Yep, the doctor says you should definitely get tested."

smartphones ended socialism. we spend our more time on phones...... today it effects our relationships.

I truly believe the mobile phone is killing the art/skill of making small talk.
I was in a doctors surgery the other day I would say about 95 percent of the people waiting were clued to there phones.
There's a whole generation of people out there that will not develop the skills to communicate because of mobiles.

It's better than reading a 6 month old issue of Something Or Other Weekly Magazine that you used to have to read in those places.

There is no way in hell I would talk to those other people!
