I heard of Dropbox years ago and signed up about 2 years ago. I have 50GB of space but I was told I'm going back down to 2GB since I only get 2GB with a free account and the 48GB was "free" due to my Samsung SSD purchase and is now expiring. I just signed up for a month costing 8.99/month to get 1TB of space. I can't really deal with sorting out the files right now so I'll just buy "temporary storage" until I can sort it out in a month or two.
Does anyone else subscribe to Dropbox? Or is there any other free alternative? I used to keep some files on MediaFiles or some such website, but I've not really kept track of it and don't really trust it to keep anything important, but I'm really doing the same with Dropbox --- I only intended to use it to be able to access files between my PCs, iPad, and mobile phones. That way, I can connect to my Dropbox via my phone and download the latest FAQ for the card game I'm playing without having to go through the game-maker's website.

I use three, dropbox, onedrive and google drive, for different storage needs. I just use the free version of two. The only one I pay for is onedrive. I pay $0.84 per month for 50GB. Looks like pricing now is $1.99 per month for the same, so I must have gotten a promo or something. https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-US/plans/

I use Dropbox and photobucket. Both work fine and for free.

I signed up for one called "Box" some time ago and got 50gb (free) no issues with it. I also use Dropbox and Google Drive.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck.” -Robert Heinlein

Yeah, the free bit of Dropbox is only 2GB. I need to see what's in my Dropbox that takes it over that. Probably some useless vidoes I've downloaded off YT.
I would happily pay for storage, I think, but Dropbox is asking for around 9 per month, or 89 for a whole year. That's too much even for 1TB, IMHO. I could easily buy another hard drive with that money, and it'll be 2TB.

- Free
MediaFire has 10GB of free storage. These downloads are add supported and will be deleted if you do not login at least once every 4 or 6 months. Don't remember which but data is deleted if there is no activity for a set period of time. - Pro plan
The Pro Plan is less than the cost of buying a 1TB external hard drive annually @ $3.50 a month when billed annually. - Business Plan:
The Business plan is way beyond what any casual user would ever need.

What do you primarily use these online storage places for? Photos? Or something else?

Something else. I use it for storing my lawn and garden tools when I'm not using them. Also a couple bikes that the wife and I don't ride too much anymore. And of course the boxes of miscellaneous stuff that I have no use for but just can't seem to commit to throwing away.

I hear the Army is using it to store a bunch of VX and GB they can't get rid of too. Read something about drop box being hacked and a bunch of customer info was pilfered very recently, FWIW.
