I had a post ready for no joystick in 1.2 or 1.2 A but was working in all other installs,,,I deleted it because I did a bit of trouble shooting ..I had a nostromo n-52 keypad plugged in...I unjacked it and my stick started working fine....I'm guessing you can't use multiple controllers in 1.2 or 1.2 A..I'll look Marks site over and see if anything is there.

Here's the page you may need:

http://eaw.neocities.org/eaw-joystick-remappable.html

Your using two USB devices, that won't work unless your combine them physically(chained linked) or virtually with special software. I assume the keypad can be considered another controller.

Its all in the help document.

Thanks Mark ..I did go to your site and not sure How to do it,,,
I've kninda figured out ..Using my Logitec 3d pro and setting it up in game and using the keyboard it will work well...Following your guide helped.me figure out what key strokes I need and between the stick and keyboard it will be good.I'll save the keypad for IL-2 that needs it EAW requires less commands

Ugh! so you didn't get use of your keypad then?
or
Did the stick software have the options to combine?

Just don't forget how you set up your hardware, if u run EAW without the hardware configuration, EAW will wipe your new key assigned commands, best to backup your eaw.ini too just incase you forget.

EDIT: okay I didnt see your whole post or something the first time. so you didn't need the extra keypad after all. Good for you for configurating the controls on your own. Your one of the more resourceful people that I see and willing to try fixes.

Eaw is pretty good for setting up controls,,I like it that I can do it directly in game and don't need to use the logitec software,,As you article states ,,This frees up the normally assigned keyboard strokes,,,This gives me flexibility there,,,Mostly on the stick itself I assign mr S.A. functions and use the keyboard for stuff like Gear ,,brakes map etc,

Mark
Used your site for help in setting up my stick. It's a Logitec 3d pro Mapped out what controls I wanted on paper..Got mostly S.A. stuff on the handle..with fire second weapon on one of the buttons...^ buttons on the base have flap controls, bombs Rockets,,Still have two buttons free on the base. Now to draw a quick diagram of the stick top and base buttons...Going to add some easy ones to a remapped keyboard,,Gear,,Mao,,Autopilot..ETC
I will test drive it and adjust as necessary....Jeez everything was easier when I had my X-52 beaucoup buttons there. But your site is a great help and read it often some parts more than once

OK
Tried to get the keypad working..The sim didn't seem to accept input from it and my machine started freezing,,Not sure if that's from the keypad or some recently installed software..So I went to plan B using some advice from Mark's site I programmed the most important commands to the Logitec stick..Those are really the basic combat commands for targeting friend/foe,,and some weapon selection commands,,,,Then I basically cleared my keypad and the keys on the right side of my keyboard and used them for the lesser but sometimes used commands like map,,engine start, auto pilot,,drop tanks etc...mostly commands you use once or twice a mission also this works to make everything one keystroke not the ctrl + something...It's easier for me and allows me to keep my hand on the stick when dropping external tanks looking at the map etc... Flew a bit and will make some adjustments so things are placed better I like to have flap control on keys 1 and 3 and gear on # 2 in the middle..My goal was to make a setup that was comfortable for me and so far seems solid.

Damn messed up and lost my ini file,,,,,,Don't know how but it's gone.I was doing some editing and machine locked up and had to do a cold re-boot...Question is can you copy an exe from one version of EAW to another,,,Are they basically the same?? Of course I know some are edited but are they somewhat interchangeable??

You mean can you copy an INI from one to the other?

You can with some versions, but its better to copy from within the ini file to the other, plucking out the control configuration lines that you need. Most of the control lines are the same, but some are different so just look out for those ones.

hi Russ,

in most versions if no EAW.INI is present a new one will be generated after flying one mission. I mean not real flying but just having been on the runway and then exiting the game again.

The game will only write the default entries in it and when read it will only read entries which are specific to that version, all other entries are ignored. The only criterium is that the entries MUST be under the hardcoded headers. If an entry isn't found a new default one will be generated where it is supposed to be.

Still things don't always work out with certain OS's as the .INI is considered to be a system file for Windows too. Safest would be to use an old INI from an old OAW install or another 1.2 campaign, those are usually OK. You may have to alter the screenres if your monitor or videocard got changed..

To help here is a copy of mine, running in D3D mode plus my key preferences and the extra entries found by the community:

Thanks for the answers Mark,,VB....I think it's best to try creating a default ini and start from scratch That was the problem before I was working off the keycard and found some ini's were non standard.,Anyways ,I found out what locked me up it' was an automatic PC tune up utility ,,Got rid of that sucker...Only good thing was as I mapped a key I was writing it down and I made a map of my stick and the right side of the keyboard..With commands as I entered them.
It's a bit rough trying to learn//relearn stuff related to EAW,,But Mark's site is an extremely valuable tool
