After years away from flying on-line I took the plunge and signed up at the 352nd FG

Last night JackSprat and I had a very productive session..We were able to establish comms using Team speak ,,Which surprised the hell out of me..I've got poor hearing but was able to communicate easily with Jack...We tried connecting a flight with each other. We found we were able to connect easily he connected to my game and in turn I connected to his.
We had a few troubles with our respective ini's ,,This was due to the fact we downloaded Jell's 1.40/352nd and weren't familiar with his key assignments...Today will be a day to set up the ini to our preferences..But 1.40/352 ran sweet.
I would recomend anyone who likes to fly EAW..Take a chance and find a squad and join in.Just ask in here for help..Test the waters so to speak ..If you don't like it you can quit,,But I believe once you try you'll stay it's the best way to enjoy EAW and meet some great friends,,Don't worry if you don't understand something folks here are always ready to help..Believe me I know that for a fact

Great to hear Russ smile
Now all that remains is to set up GameRanger smile

Next time you are online launch a game and post your IP here so that I can try to connect to it. I have trouble with port forwarding, which is why I prefer Gameranger.

I just tried the IP but nothing showed up. It is probably easier to try GR.
Use the link in my sig to download an installation, and I will guide you once it is installed smile

In the meantime I will try the IP again smile

Whilst you were posting I was composing this tutorial smile

After GR is installed and running navigate to "MyGames" in the main window

Note the "Edit" menu
Go to it and select "options" and the game list will be visible

Scroll down the list to find "European Air War", select it, then click "Browse"

Then navigate to your "352ndEAW140" folder and select the eaw.exe. This is mine but your folder will be somewhere else:

Doing this sets the path to the exe that GR will use.

In the screenies above you can see my GR ID, and you can add me as a friend. That way you will see if I am online smile

There are some tricky aspects with the 352nd setup which cause lockups.
There are no 1940 Allied planes, so switching from 1945 online locks up

No
There is a problem withe the d3dwindower in Windows7 and later.

In Vista and earlier operating systems you can select EAW and click the green triangle to set it as the "Active emulation".
At this point it is best to minimise the windower window, so that it is still running but out of the way.

Then if EAW is launched other than by the windower (such as by the host at Gameranger), then the windower kicks in automatically and you fly EAW in a window.
This works on my Vista laptop, but for some reason it no longer works in Windows7 or Windows10 smile

There are other windower programs, but I have not had good results in Windows 10. So I tend to use the d3dwindower in Windows 7 for offline play only.
