It's just amazing to think that these photos were taken 50 years ago!

I always found it interesting that the far side of the moon is so boring to look at. You look at those pics and it's just craters and craters and more craters. All the interesting geography faces Earth.

These United States of America
Here's another bunch of nice pictures from Apollo. I like looking through these.

I wonder why it seems we don't get any current images of our moon from space and if we do, they seem to be few and often times not as good as the Apollo stuff from years ago. Even if we get a really nice one it seems to be accompanied by a bunch of junk, low res pictures by comparison. Same with Mars. We'll get an insanely detailed, high res photo but then a bunch of stuff that comes up when searching is pretty poor. Yet we get a high res photo of a asteroid somehow and not of our moon today.

Does anyone know of any good Mars or space photo sites instead of NASA. I know it seems odd but I dislike NASA's site and would rather find a place that has real archives of past and present photography all in one easy place to look at.

Google earth has a moon or Mars setting, you can
tour the surfaces just as you do the earth. Fully
tiled, though the magnification is variable, as
with the earth, but generally somewhat lower max
zoom.
